Even some work in progress pics of Soundeffect and some shadowy pics for you Andrew! [Wink]

A note on the Niagra:
I've poured over all the studio model pics and the five diffrent schematics of this odd ship and came to the following conclusions.
* The ship has no interconnecting neck. Period.
In the studio pics the saucer is sitting directly on the secondary hull.
* The secondary hull is not shortened at the shuttlebay *a mistake in the STTM version: among many).
* The dorsal nacelles do not overhang the saucer: this would completely cover and obstruct the aft phasers if they did and does not take perspective in the studio pics into consideration.
*The STTM and fact files version of the schematics are so far off that as to be unsalvagable: the ship should have no neck, the nacelles should be farther back, the ship has five dorsal phaser strips (instrad of three) and the schematics pasted the bridge module from the freedom onto the top of the saucer (in fact the entire saucer is pasted from the freedom) and does nor match the studio model at all.

Kitty hawk is kind of a"raging queen" varaint with the nacelles correctly scaled and the neck junctire at the front (instead of the aft) joined to the saucer's center.
The Blackheart is kinds of a Constalation version of the Niagra design and is a much older ship.
Look around: there are more pics of both ships in other albums.
The Kitty hawk is mounted with the Merrimac, so they're usually together.
I could shoot more pics next week if you want more views of either. [Big Grin]

Yes yes! I want to see many more pictures of your ships. I went through your galleries and found many interesting designs. Like that Hawking class or whatever it is. Basically shots of your custom ships! [Smile]

They all look absolutely lovely. Even the kitbash and BOBW ships look like nice ships rather than complete jokes - for instance the Freedom, which I have always detested, looks very nice. And the Nebula... well its just wonderful. And I love the Bozeman. [Smile]

Those are great, Jason!

It's nice to see those in-progress pics of the Niagara. My 1/1400 version is at the stage where I'm getting the saucer and secondary hull to fit. I'm going with the thicker lower pylon as I've interpreted from the studio pics. I agree with the no-neck theory, but I'm really at a loss to find a good place for an impulse engine!

I haven't worked out where exactly I'm going to align the nacelles, but I agree that the schematic sources didn't come from folks who saw the filming miniature!

Also, the name Hokido? Did you intend USS Hokkaido? Named after the Japanese island and a ship of the Renaissance Class? Or is there some reference you used I don't know?

Again, super job on both the Niagara and the NX-01!

Hokido is a form of Tai Kwon Do.
Kind of a karate form with less rigid stances.
When I was looking for the name of the island I found several websites about the the martial art...and several more sites that spell the isalnd in Japan that way.
Either definition is good for me, but I'm going with the art as there would already have been a ship (Rennasiance) with that name at the time of her commisioning. [Wink]

I notched the rear of the saucer slightly to line my Impulse engine where the saucer meets the secondary hull. I thought about making a kind of trench aling the ship's spine away from the engine but decided to gowith a more canon aproach.
I can't imagine it working another way.

I still have two ships to catch up with you!
You beat me to the Yeager, Medusa and , Raging Queen and New Orleans and I've only beaten you to the Elkins and the Niagra.

Here's another pic of the Kitty Hawk and one of the Blackheart.

The first two pics suck. I shot them with zero expsure and tried to correct them when I first started learning Photoshop so thir colors are waaay too bright in areas (RCS bthrusters in particular.)
RIght click the pic with the Merrimac (a high res file) and you can enlarge the Kitty Hawk to better clarity. [Wink]

Elaborate Topher! What would you change on these: I might re-paint then with decal windows (perfect shapes too!) to improve their overall look.
