I had an idea for a DS9 movie. Let me know what you think.

A probe comes through the wormhole, transmitting a distress call. The Defiant is launched, thinking the Dominion has risen to power again. When they arrive they find that a new race has come to power, and that the Dominion is under attack. The Federation offers to help. After much consideration (and perhaps another attack) the Dominion accepts the offer. Odo is sent as a Founder ambassador. Upon hearing this, the Klingons sent a task force, led by Worf, who's given up his role as an ambassador and become a General in the Klingon army. The alien race attacks DS9, but thier fleet is driven back. O'Brien is appointed leader of an engineering team sent to repair the station in anticipation of another attack. The aliens decide to destroy the wormhole, but the Prophets send their Emissary to stop them.

That's all I've got so far. Any suggestions?

Sounds more like a novel than a movie.

If there was going to be a DS9 movie, I'd rather like it to not be about yet another war. We've had enough war and conflict in recent Star Trek. Do something a bit more light and entertaining (like The Voyage Home was). I'm sure that if you bring back the DS9 production crew, they can pull it off.

I wonder if they could bring back Sisko without going way over the top with him being some sort of Messiah...

I'm not at all convinced DS9's serialized format is good movie material.

And Voyager's story is finished.

So... an Enterprise movie!? But that's still in production.

Or.. a completely new movie, with new characters. Might be refreshing, but very unlikely.

The most likely scenario if Paramount okays the 11th movie while "Enterprise" is still in production and Stewart really doesn't want to return, is a mixed series/crew movie. But I really think Paramount will want to wait another four years and do an "Enterprise" movie as soon as the final season wraps... similar to what they did with "Generations"

I think that, if they do a DS9 movie, Sisko's return should definitely be dealt with. However... so much time has passed now, most of the realistic issues that would come up with his sudden departure would probably have evened out. Still having issues with the command structure on the station or the political situation on Bajor seems unlikely.

And yes... another war would be something of overkill. We've had a Dominon War, and now we're essentially getting a war on Enterprise, though not all out like on DS9.

I think the only way a DS9 movie would work would be to have it set DURING the series (I'd say season 7 unless they can get Terry Farrell back) and make it a TV-movie.

Would be good.

OH and Ira Stephen Behr, Robert Hewitt Wolfe, Ron D. Moore etc. have to be involved.

Gloom:

Not to shoot down your idea right away, but I think your scenario needs a lot more work and story. When I read your scenario, I always found myself asking why a particular plot development occured.

Why does the Dominion send a probe through the wormhole in the first place? Does it transmit anything more enlightening than "Send Help." If Odo is already the Dominion ambassador, why don't they send Odo in the first place to talk to the solids and ask for their help? He probably would be the only person in the Dominion who would generate enough sympathy for their plight within the Federation.

Why would the Federation offer its assistance in the first place? Wouldn't it be happy that a new race was dominating a former enemy? Wouldn't the prevailing attitude be: live and let die? Does this new race threaten the Federation or Federation interests? Why would the Dominion need to think about the offer of help from the Federation if they sent a message stating they needed assistance? Was the message from the probe intended for the Breen and it was intercepted by the Federation? Can't the Dominion breed enough Jem Hadar to protect itself from this new menace? Are renegade Jem Hadar the new menace?

Why do the Klingons decide to get involved in these events? Are they helping the Dominion? Wouldn't they rather want to destroy the Founder's homeworld and Dominion instead of assisting them? What about all the Klingon warriors and ships lost and the talk about the Dominion having no honor? Why would Martok appoint Worf to lead the task force to the Dominion? Is Worf still the Federation ambassador to the Klingon Empire when this story takes place? Do we need to drag the Enterprise E and the Titan along with this story to explain why Worf is involved in this story?

Wouldn't Keiko object to Miles going back to DS9? Why would the Federation need to send Miles O'Brien in the first place? Aren't there personnel aboard the station who can handle these repairs? Didn't Miles accept the teaching position at Starfleet Academy so he wouldn't have to deal with DS9 anymore.

Why do the aliens decide to destroy the wormhole? Are they trying to prevent assistance coming from the Alpha Quadrant to the Dominion?

How does Sisko try to stop them?

Plus, how does Kira Nerys react to seeing Odo again? Does she still love him? Has she gone on with her life, married, and started a family? Does Odo still love her? Will Nerys let Odo return to the Great Link?

What about Kassidy Yates-Sisko? Is she still on DS 9? What sort of development will occur with her relationship with Sisko? Will she let Sisko return to the Prophets?

What about the relationship between Ezri Dax and Dr. Bashir? Are they married? What do they have to do while these events unfold?

Do the Ferengi get involved in this chain of events? Do we see Nog, Leeta, or Quark again?

Has Bajor been admitted to the Federation?

Sorry to throw this wrench in the works. But I think that some of these details need to be worked out in order for a continuation of the DS 9 story to occur.

Just do the story "Avatar" from the DS9 re-launch books.
I'd love to see Commander Vaugh, The andorian science officer Shar andthe Jem "Hadar observer Tran'atar.
Those books are the best written Trek I've ever read.

Personally, I think it'll be better if they had Riker and the USS Titan helping out DS9 (or saving them or vice versa) in some sort of Sisko related incident. Perhaps you can fit the Dominion in there somehow.

Seriously, I think Paramount thinks only a ship named Enterprise will do well. So they might want to wait 4 or so years to do a Enterprise movie. I mean currently, I doubt they would want to make a movie so soon after the last movie.

Okay, so, DS9 Movie, eh?

I've always wanted to see a movie where Patrick Swayze plays "Hermano Buckler," a legendary bouncer who comes to Quark's bar at Deep Space Nine, to help maintain order as the locals like O'Brian get a little too Irish and a lot too fisty. As Hermano Buckler cleans up the station, he rids the bar of thugs, hoodlums and hit men, but as he learns their true nature, as Dominion Master Bar Assassins, he steps afoul of their employers - the wonderfully overwrought and ambiguously engendered Iggy Pop, making his Star Trek return! (After playing "New Born Baby" in "Rugrats: The Movie," I'd bet he'd be more than willing to take off his makeup and play a Vorta once again) and his No-Nonsense, equally as gender unspecific sidekick David Bowie (Who would play someone of the same race as his "Wife" Iman did, in the cult classic A View to a Ki Star Trek VI. Yelgrun and The Bowmeister take over the station. The crew and residents live in fear of them, but Hermano is ready for action! He confronts their goons in one spectacular fight after another, them dancing around in a circle awaiting their turn, while he pounds away at one with his impressive Neo-Japanitsu Maneuvres. Ninja skills he learned while serving aboard the USS Red Dawn where he successfully defended the ship and her crew from a terrible invasion with The Red Hoarde. Successfully he fights his way through until he must fight the end level bos David Bowie in a one on one fight, and at first, Bowie manages to gain the upper hand with his powerful androgenator ray, but Hermano battles back with a dirty dance of his own. Finally, Hermano Buckler knows he must face the Vorta himself in a blistering battle to the finish, and use his skills and all that he has learned about self, love, life and honor, to defend the bar he calls home.

Co-starring Kari Wuhrer(as "Alien Mistress"), Eric Roberts (as "Starfleet Officer #3"), and Tony Todd (as "The Guy Who Comes In And Kicks Everyone's Ass Because He's So Awesome And Doesn't Get Nearly Enough Movie Roles") and featuring featuring hard-driving music by Alabama, the Jeff Healey Band, Otis Redding and more, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Space Station is where the action is!

Coming Summer 2007.
