WHO'S THE FRIKIN' FATHER!?!?!?

*deep breath*

You know, those X-Files writers have spoiled themselves. Every time that they've given an answer to any question, they've always had a back door: anyone who CAN answer the question is untrustworthy. They can come back years later and say, "Oh, that? He was lying. THIS is what's really going on." Witness the whole Samantha thing. She's alive, she's dead, she's alive, she's dead, she's alive, she's not QUITE dead...

As I say, they're spoiled. They HAVE to have that back door. We STILL don't know for sure that Mulder's the father. We (FINALLY!) know for sure that he's got a sweet little thang goin' on with the redhead, but if that's related to the pregnancy is a different question all together. We also still don't know HOW she became pregnant. AGGH!

They used the chip in her neck to impregnate her. How that works, I don't know. But that's what they said. Maybe the baby's genetic makeup comes solely from Scully. A clone, except for the stuff they altered.

And Mulder isn't the father. They already showed that Scully tried to get pregnant by him, and it didn't work.

'Course, that season finale didn't make a lot of sense anyway. The alien replicants or whatever they were kept trying to destroy the baby, but, when they finally got there just before she gave birth, they didn't do anything. And why did the park ranger shoot Billy Miles, if they were both aliens? Did anyone really want to kill the baby? If not, why all the fighting? If so, who, and why didn't they succeed?

IT ALL MAKES NO SENSE!!!

They've got to leave questions to be (un)answered in the 9th season

That's what KRYCEK said. You believe him?

And Mulder isn't the father. They already showed that Scully tried to get pregnant by him, and it didn't work.

Ah, they showed that the artificial insemination didn't take. For all we know, they could have been having sex for YEARS before his abduction. The only trick would have been an egg being present.

The alien replicants or whatever they were kept trying to destroy the baby, but, when they finally got there just before she gave birth, they didn't do anything.

Well, they never actually SAID that they wanted to harm the kid. That was just assumed. They wanted to ensure that the baby was born. Either their imperative was to defend the kid, or their imperative did NOT necessitate it's death under certain circumstances, which were met. What those might be is anyone's guess, but it's a place to start.

Mulder said at the end that the only thing he could think of was that maybe the kid wasn't what they thought it was going to be.

Well, Mulder's being surprisingly unimaginative.
