[Moving this to its own thread, leaving Angel-ites to wallow in their own pity. [Wink] ]

PROBABLE SPOILERS!

Okay, here's the deal. The folks in charge of the first TV series are coming back with a four-hour miniseries in the series universe. It will be produced for Sci-Fi and will be the lead-in for a TV series much like Galactica did in 2003.

The central character will be of the Mackenzie clan, and will likely be older than the two Highlanders we've gotten so far. Little is known of the plot, however producer/writer David Abramowitz has revealed that the theme of the miniseries will be similar to "Endgame", that of redemption. No characters from the original series are slated, but he's hinted that a series might have favorite guest stars pop in.

Personally, I'm hoping for a new ENSEMBLE cast taking the show in a similar direction to the first series, but with less of a super-emphasis of the main character. I liked the Duncan Macleod character, but having him be constantly the center of the plots and winner of the battle *did* get tiresome by the end. Having several Immortals in the cast and giving them each their own stories in true ensemble fashion would give a show much better character. They *sorta* did that in the lamented "Raven" series, but the characters just didn't work out in that one. Given an early working title for the project may have been "Highlander: Trinity", I'm hoping the ensemble approach will be true.

Regardless, the Highlander franchise was at its best in TV series format. The movies could never get into the depth of issues related to immortality that the series did, and I'm really looking forward to this miniseries as a result.

Plus, even more good swordfightin'. [Smile]

Additional: Snay, Duncan took about 80 heads over the five and a half years of the series, which totalled 119 episodes. This is almost half of his lifetime total, which is 180 or so (at least that the Watchers know of).

Of the various Scottish Immortals, there was Connor and Duncan Macleod, Warren Cochrane (born in Killcrankie, so he's not a Highlander) and Andrew Donnely. Jacob Kell was obstensibly born a highlander too, but wasn't a warrior like Connor or Duncan, hence the distinction. Then there are various Immortals who were probably living in the area long enough to gain the accent, but pre-date the "Highlander" moniker by quite a bit, like Flora MacDonald (nee Ceirdwyn).

Quentin sucks ass and should never be mentioned. EVAR.
