Placeholder for tonight's episode. Note that this is the mid-season break for both SG-1 and Atlantis, and we won't get new episodes until late January after this. In other words, the General SF forum becomes so again, if only for a few months.

Theft of the Stargate? I have to imagine that this involves the transporter technology we didn't see at the end of "Affinity". 'Cause, I mean, it's not like they could have just rolled it over to the elevator ad out of the mountain.
If that's true, I guess we can be pretty sure it's not a ring transporter. Either that, or they made themselves some pretty big rings.

The sound effect and white flash of light are consistent with an Asgard transporter. And to add a spoiler speculation: . . . . . . . .
I'm told this ties in with the new group called "the Trust" that's taken over the sneaky schemes of the NID, and that it ties in somewhat with an episode last year. In that episode, Osiris came back to mind-job Daniel into revealing the location of Atlantis. They captured her, but apparently not her mode of transportation she used to get to Earth, nor the Asgard transporter she used to beam into Daniel's house every night.
So, it seems that the Trust has found or captured her ship, used the transporter to steal the Stargate (which has been done before), and are now using it to their own nefarious ends. Advance photos show some of the Trust guys aboard a Goa'uld ship or base of some sort, equipped with a Stargate and a mess of human computers.

So, uh, since Mark is being atypically remiss in his duties, I guess I'll have to fill his big Canadian shoes this week.

The Trust gained access to Osiris' ship (an Alkesh with a cloak) through her wrist-device, which was brought to Area 51 after the events of Chimera, and have been using it as an orbital base of operations ever since.
The ship itself was in total lockdown mode when they first beamed aboard it (except for the Asgard transporter, which Anubis learned to build when he picked Thor's brain in Revelations), because the ascended worm had all computer interfaces translated into Ancient so nobody else could read them (hence The Trust blackmailing Daniel-san), but now, thanks to Daniel's "help", it's on the loose.
Asgard transporters cannot function without Asgard sensors (which Osiris' Alkesh isn't fitted with) unless locator beacons mark the objects to be transported. The Trust bribed one of the SGC techs into placing one the gate, and woosh it went. In yet another moment of SG1 prescience, though, they installed jammers around it afterwards to thwart any future beam-out attempts.
A more stable version of the Tok'ra binary symbiote poison from Summit is now apparently being synthesized on Earth, and The Trust have dozens of capsules of the stuff, along with an unknown quantity of HARMesque rockets to deliver it through a gate. Their nefarious plan was/is to wage a chemical war against the Goa'uld, knocking out Jaffa-occupied planets in Baal's and the remaining system lords' domains without any regard for the rebels there and then bringing down the snakes themselves.
Oh yeah, the Prommie's also scheduled to receive an Asgard sensor upgrade. Those little grey muppets are sure feeling generous this year. B)

I love the way they pull together "forgotten" threads on this show! I'm not sure I would have remembered what Osiris' visits to Daniel could have meant otherwise.

I really, really liked this one. Lots of new mythology to add to the series, as we move to the inevitable confrontation with Baal.
-I loved the opening scene with Walter and the other chevron guy. They should get their own show and solve problems and crimes when SG-1 isn't around.
-No one's really ever kept track of all the changes made to the control room set over the years, but there've been a few, and I'm not talking just the CRT monitors being swapped for LCD versions a while back. I think the iris hand scanner is new this time....
-Why was Daniel in charge of interrogating the two chevron guys? I mean, as funny as the coffee joke was...
-We see the new Alpha Site command room. Nothing special, except lots more LCD monitors, and what looks like the Prometheus engineering console. Colonel Pierce is in charge, and Dr. Harris is the CMO.
-M'zel, the Clancy Brown lookalike, has been seen before in last season's episode "Death Knell". The former Jaffa to Heru'ur was a pretty high-up guy back then, when the Tok'Ra - Jaffa alliance was broken (as mentioned here).
-Sam and Daniel go in with the SFs with zat guns, which is a first. They also go in wearing T-shirts and jeans under their flak vests. Seems O'Neil has relaxed uniform codes since he took charge (ref. "Touchstone" in the second season).
-On the flipside, Area 51 seems to have been beefed up of late (ref. "Touchstone" et.al.). This time, Carter and Daniel have to strip down and don tan jumpsuits as a security measure.
-This is the second time they've mentioned the "Jaffa Fifth Column". For what they're talking about, look here for starters.
-The Trust guy had a really cool machine pistol - a real-world weapon that's been around for a while. Anyone know what it is?
-Her hotness Zaren, a Tok'Ra undercover as a garisson commander in the service of Baal, uses a Pyramid ship as her base. This is neat, since we rarely see such ships anymore. They were first seen as Ra's ship in the movie, only occasionally since then, and never in a combat role. It's usually assumed that such ships were more like palatial pleasure yachts than warships (given how much more luxurious they tended to look in the movie and relevant episodes), though they doubtless carry some weaponry - just not as much as the Ha'tak class motherships.
-One wonders if Teal'c could have saved M'zel by ripping out his symbiote and injecting him with the Tretonin he doubtless had on him. Ah well.
-Anyone notice that the leader of the Jaffa in the field used a US Military hand gesture instead of saying the usual "kree"?
-The Al'kesh sets are almost all new, with only the bridge being adapted from the usual cargo ship set. Unlike most Ha'tak corridors we see these days, it still maintains all the Eygptian heiroglyphics, which remains a nice touch. Anyway, a cloaking device will rob the Al'kesh of about 60% of its power. Take THAT, Bird of Prey!
-Granted they didn't know where the last Trust member was taking them, but why didn't they just head up to the bridge and take her out? That way they'd at least have another Al'kesh in their arsenal.
-O'Neil's indecision continues to show that he's emphatically NOT Hammond. Refusing to order Colonel Prendergast to fire on SG-1 may not have been the sound decision, but strategically it was. However, O'Neil may be indirectly responsible for another half dozen worlds falling to the blue goo...

I don't remember the gun he had, but maybe it was a TEC-9. I really enjoyed the episode but I hate Sci-Fi for making me wait until January to see the conclusion.

Oh yeah, the pyramid ship in possession of the Tok'ra Zaren. You would think that technically it would be in our control now. You know they would love to get their hands on one!

I wondered less about that, and more about the fact that he was part of the raid on the Trust warehouse. I mean, I realize he's done that sort of thing before, on occasion. I guess it just shows that he's moved well beyond the "dorky scientist" thing he had going early in the series.

I'm of the opinion that they have limited strategic value... Heck they may even be an outmoded class of ship. Only Ra an his son Heru'ur were ever seen using one in flight.
Also, if they DID take it, it could give the wrong impression to the Goa'uld that they NEED it for some reason. The snakes are currently under the impression that Earth still has powered Ancient weapons at their control, which is why they haven't attacked since Anubis went kablooey. If they're suddenly seen swiping ships and stuff for an Earth defense fleet, the Goa'uld might call the bluff.

Additional: I think THIS is the machine pistol I was talking about before. it definitely had a forward SOMETHING coming off the front like that, though the guy was using it one-handed...
