I was actually pleasantly suprised by this one. It certainly didn't play out how the promo made it sound. The producers admitted that they needed to do an all-stock set episode to save cash, but I think they did a good job with it.

I was really expecting Mitchell to start playing rock-paper-scissors with one of his counterparts! There was, however, a deleted/alternate scene of him and the team coming through the gate and yelling "What the frell is going on here?!"

Martouf! Okay, I really liked his character when he was a recurring guest, and was really sorry to see him go. Nice to see him once more.

No O'Neills coming through, though.

One of the teams in the hall had Mitchell with three very *large* men. Am I mistaken, or did they have the "Upgrades" arm bands on?

One of the alternate Teal'cs had the mega-staff weapon. Cooool.

Kind of irritating how they always cut off just before they mentioned who any of the alternate Carters were in a relationship with. Stop teasing me!

Mitchell had an interesting reaction to the Asgard.
"Even though I read all the mission reports, the Asgard are a whole lot different than I'd imagined them."
"And what were you expecting?"
"Well, pants for starters."

That's all I can remember for now. It's late. I'm tired.

*smacks head* Now why didn't I think of that "rock-paper-scissors" gag? [Wink]

I was really surprised to see a very nearly "evil" version of SG-1. It seems to me to take a major character shift for something like that to happen. But maybe that's just me.

One thing I thought about after the show was over... is that there's nothing that would stop the evil SG-1 from trying this ruse again. The only good news is that there's only a one in a billion chance that they'll end up gating back to "our" Stargate Command for a second time. But they'll still be ripping off some other universe's ZPM.

(Hmm... Wouldn't it be poetic justice if they did eventually manage to steal some alternate universe's ZPM, and they got back to find that it was unusable because the ZPM's subspace-whatchamacallit properties would cause the unit to catastrophically overload if it were powered up in a universe other than the one it was designed for?)

Other thoughts I had during the show:

"It's a good thing that Felger isn't here helping Dr. Lee right now... he'd probably have a mental breakdown working in the same room as twelve nearly-identical copies of Carter!"

(to Carter) "So you finally found someone smart enough to keep up with you?" (me) "Yep!" (Carter) "Yup!"

Their vaccine containers were amusing. "We have something for you... a pair of PSPs! They're not quite ZPMs, but they'll have to do."

"I miss Thor."

I kept expecting O'Neill to be on one of the teams, but I guess not. I always thought it was funny how many duplicates of herself Carter has met. Then we get the room with 18 of them. That made me happy. [Smile]

"Cut the green one."

Oh yeah, I forgot about that line... Was Evil Mitchell just screwing with his counterpart's mind with that parting comment, or was he being sincere and offering useful advice? I couldn't quite tell...

Or offering BAD advice to purposefully screw them over? I don't think Mitchell would do that, but after what happened, he might.

Why would an event in Mitchell2's past happen in Mitchell1's future, anyway?

Well, we've known things to happen out of order before. Like the first time the multiple universe plot was visited.

Or like Bra'tac becoming leader of the Jaffa Nation, which is clearly coming in our universe, but happened sooner in one of the other realities.

Upon second viewing, they weren't PSPs. They were silver Tapwave Zodiacs.

From hints dropped here and there, it's clear that things were happening in slightly different order in the different universes. The "cut the green wire" line was apparently not the only foreshadowing of a future episode, but I can't remember any others.

I wouldn't exactly call the SG1 in black an "evil" SG1. (Hey, even Mitchell said they didn't have beards!) Really, they're all different shades of gray. Like Frasier said, who's to say our Earth is most important? Any of the SG1 teams would do whatever it takes to save their Earth, and that's exactly what black-SG1 was doing. From black-Mitchell's disposition at the end, I would say that he perfectly understands our SG1 wanting to preserve our our own universe. (Speculation: I wouldn't be suprised if our SG1 gave them some suggestions as to where other ZPMs might be in the black-SG1's universe.)

B.J.: The point is that what I call "Evil SG-1" was willing to hurt and endanger people in order to save their own asses. It doesn't matter whether it's their own universe or whether it's someone else's universe, the principle is the same. I don't care if Evil Mitchell "understands" that our SG-1 wanted to protect Atlantis, he was still willing to steal something.

Think of it this way: Remember back many seasons ago, when the rogue NID operation run by Maybourne was stealing stuff like the Touchstone weather control system and endangering other planets? What Evil SG-1 was doing here was exactly the same thing. It was wrong then, and it was wrong now.
