I'm not going to write a summary of the episode. That's other people's thing. I just have a question. Did I miss an explanation as to why, after the Ori ship with the weapon on it went through the supergate, they didn't re�stablish the wormhole that was blocking anyone from coming through from the other side? Especially since they explicitly mentioned that they'd guessed the Ori's followers would still be on the march?
(Unrelatedly, I'd never really noticed it before, but Morena Baccarin has a great deal of neck. A great deal indeed.)

And Daniel gets to smooch her to become a prior? Were the other guys expecting to have to kiss Julian Sands? Why AREN'T there any female priors, anyway?
As for the first question, I figure they just didn't have time to set it up. In order to divert the gate again, they'd have to reset a similar explosion to the first time - and they only did THAT on a fluke by blowing up a Wraith ship along with their nuke. Also, the Pegasus gate is way closer to the event horizon now, which will probably be a factor in precision detonation again. I'm sure McKay could figure out how to do it without finding another boat full of suckerhands, but there has yet to be a precedent.
Anyways, if they DID do it, they'd have no way to check the Ori galaxy to see how effective it was. Who knows how long the supergate can stay open, but they may have considered the option of sending a probe or something through to check. Dunno if they'd want to send a ship through - a ZPM-boosted Odyssey would be hella-fast, but we HAVE to assume that the Ori ships would have the resources to be that fast too. And if so, then why didn't they just send more ships via more conventional boosted hyperdrive?
Speaking of which, why didn't the Ori simply build another supergate? Have they simply not been caring to send any reinforcements in the past seven months - did they figure that three ships would be sufficient? Sending troops via regular gates is no problem, after all... I'm thinking there must have been some technical reason they couldn't build more than one supergate in the galaxy. Subspace limitations, or something. Point being, they couldn't build a new one, and they couldn't destroy the existing one.

PS - Superflous as he was to the plot, the presence of Variable-Rank Jack is always fun. ANd that was very likely the last dedicated Jack-Daniel bickering scene we're ever gonna get, folks! Enjoy it!

Was anyone else screaming "SHOOT HER!" when Daniel knocked Adria out? Also, I think if I was SG-1, I'd keep one of those anti-Prior devices on my person at all times. This makes, what, eight Ori ships, with the possibility of more at any time? My question was, why did they need the supergate? Ori Priors seemed to be able to open standard stargates from their home galaxy to ours. I would think we could find a way to do so from this end, especially with three ZPMs at our disposal. They should have captured the ship with the Saangreal on board and kept it!

Well, the whole point of the Sangraal was to send it through to the Ori galaxy and set it off, wiping out all the actual Ori there and leaving the Priors, Doci, and the other humans intact (and potentially powerless). This would not help any Ori which were not in the galaxy at the time, unless they specifially couldn't leave their galaxy for some reason. How do you get trapped in a physical place when you're on a higher plane of existence, anyway?
As for why they can't just use a ZPM-powered gate to dial the Ori galaxy, I think it's a simple matter of not having an address. Heck, I don't think we've even SEEN any Ori stargates besides the supergate...

Indeed, as yet we've not seen a regular Ori stargate...assuming they even have a widespread stargate system as in our galaxy and in Pegasus. Once their galaxy had been converted, really I don't see why the Ori would have had a need for them...at the very least they should key them so only Priors can dial them. No sense in subjugating a galaxy then letting it's people wander around getting ideas contrary to Origin.

You know what, I just remembered that the Prior that captured the quantum-leaped Daniel and Vala in "Origin" apparently used their version of the transport rings to get to Celestra from the village they were at. Perhaps their transport rings can be used for interstellar travel?
That scene always bugged me anyway, as the rings were some distance from the city. Why ring to a place where you're an hour's walk from your meeting? You normally put STARGATES some distance away.

Evidently the Ori use rings for both short & long range transport, which makes sense as only the Priors need to use them and the technology (at least the Lantian equivilant) is along the same lines. The dematerialisation/re-dematerialisation seams to work the same way, the only difference between the rings and a stargate is that the rings don't use wormholes, they seam to transmit the matter stream through normal space. Now obviously the Stargates use more power and have a more complex dialling system (as opposed to the rings' line of sight approach) but I think it's within the Ori's ability to make a ring platform that works like a Stargate.
