Two episodes to go... There really isn't much to this episode at all, but I wanted to start the thread to say one thing about Teal'c and the last minute of the epsiode.

BEST.

TAG.

SCENE.

EVER.

I dunno about BEST EVAR, but that was pretty durned good.

Spoilery bits to follow:

So I could be totally off-base here, but I think it's a mistake to have so much of the show be on Beau Bridges making up with Lexa Doig. And to a lesser degree Claudia Black and Fred Willard (my intense affection for these performers balances much disappointment). These are peripheral characters (folow-ons, even) and it's not like their stories are especially interesting. The reveal that underneath it all the basically good (if too busy) dad is actually a basically good dad (if too busy) isn't really saying anything. The non-reveal from the previous ep that when the cards are down the unstoppable killling machine/warrior-priest with vengeance in his heart is, in fact, unstoppable and unappologetically revengeant was 100% more interesting to watch and at least had kung-fu.

Probably the production is spinning down and the principles are needed for shooting the final eps, but it hurts to see a show with so much potential phoning it in.

I'm guessing Cam's line "It's cancelled? I didn't even know they were showing new episodes..." wasn't accidental. Wonder if it was improvised.

It was probably ad libbed in post. There was also a very conspicuous bit of dialogue in the episode that seemed far too out of place to be intentional to the story. If anything, it seems to be a dig at the OTHER, cheaper Vancouver series that's nipping at Stargate's heels. From the later scene where Carter and Dr. Lee are deciphering some Goa'uld frequencies from Vala's dad:

***

Carter: The Stargate Program just doesn't get the support it used to from the people in charge.

Vala's Dad: Why not?

Dr. Lee: EUREKA!!! One down, twelve to go.

Vala's Dad: That's too bad, because after all your Stargate program has accomplished for this network of planets, I would think the decision makers would show it the respect it deserves.

***

As for Dr. Lam's story, had the producers known that they suddenly had three episodes left to clear everything up before two movies, they'd have written a more concise story arc without a diversion like this. Lam has been referred to all season, but hasn't been seen since the middle of the previous season (actress Lexa Doig was off having her second child with Michael Shanks). Not only is this story out of place in the season, i'ts also a little wierd for her to suddenly appear after a year with no explanation, and have the viewers expect to really care about her.

What the hell was Eureka? So the cancelling of SG1 was a last minute thing? Sci-fi just didn't want to do it anymore, yet everyone else did? What is the real story?

I actually felt that this episode was just one big excuse for the absolutely hilarious ending. BRILLIANT! Better than a Seinfeld ending! [Smile]

P.S. Yes, yes I just watched the episode... I've got them all downloaded but I've been taking my time with SG1 and now I've only got two to go... [Frown]

I've had other shows to watch at the same time, Atlantis, Dr. Who, Torchwood and Heroes. I'm way behind on my Battlestar and Lost viewing.

When does the first of those SG1 movies come out?
