Somewhere along the line, I had gotten the impression that this series was meant to be an improvement on the first one. Instead, they apparently decided to take everything that was wrong with the first series and multiply it?

Odd that they worked a description of the show right into the script, though...

Exactly...

The action was a bit better, the relationship between the two Time Agents I can accept (especially after seeing Barrowman out of character in interviews.. he must LOVE this role).

But for the love of @!&@&, why can't these people talk about anything else then sex, sex, SEX. Jesus, even Tosh and Owen could barely keep their clothes on in the few brief scenes they shared. WE GET IT, YOU ARE AN ADULT SHOW. AND EDGY. But please, at least try to keep it from becoming so utterly ridiculous. You have already wasted your ridiculousness-budget on that retarded 2004 Pimp My Ride car.

What I find amusing is that now they apparently are doing an edited repeat for younger viewers the following day. I do wonder if after cutting out all the sex if there's any episode left for younger viewers to watch... [Roll Eyes]

Yep, should be interesting to tune into that. Maybe they shot two versions of the scene where Jack and John meet? It's either that or it'll go from them standing at either ends of the bar to in the next shot having a conversation and somehow removing all references to their relationship.

I wouldn't like to be the poor sod who has to figure all that out. [Smile]

As for the full episode, well I feel much the same way as everyone else here. There are still too many sex scenes and sexual references. Rather than adding anything to the story, they detract from it, coming off as crass and unintentionally juvenile. Completely the opposite of the supposed "adult" drama.

Still, it was better than last year. It seems like they've listened to some criticisms. The joke about Jack preferring roof tops was amusing as we'll all remember how often he'd be shown on one for no particular reason last year.

I'm surprised they haven't done anything about that stupid car. You'd think the blue blinky lights near the windscreen would distract the driver.

Thank GOD I didn't read the spoilers. Been a while since I've been surprised like that. Any reports are bound to be exaggerated, of course.

I must further say I've been enjoying the second series a lot. Less sex, and more character bits. The last three episodes have been particularly nice. Martha's return was also handled well, and they spoke VOLUMES of what she's been up to since she left the Doctor - all without even mentioning his name!

Yes, the last couple episodes were rather good. This latest one, especially. I liked the cuts from scene to scene, a nice touch I thought.

Things have certainly been interesting, to say the least, and it's clear they've moved to BCC2...even if new episodes are showing up now a week earlier back on BBC3. They episode just seem less about the weekly fuck-fest, and more about giving a darker story...what with this little arc they've got going with death.

Has anyone noticed that Jack isn't as omnisexual as he used to be? Smooching of Ianto aside, he seems to make almost one reference per episode now about a previous male relationship. None female. Shame, Jack - I thought you were egalitarian in such matters!

Anyway, the whole Death thing has been fairly abstract, but I've been satisfied with the improvements of the show. Martha was a great addition, and we'll miss her - even if she'll show up again in a couple months on Doctor Who.

Okay, so, the season (series) has ended, and we're down to three Torchwood members. I hope Toshiko's replacement will be as hot...

There are rumours of even more shake-ups in the concept, in order to help the show fly the Whoniverse flag while next-season DW is restricted to three feature-length (?) specials. More family-oriented, maybe even a move to BBC1 might be on the cards. And Barrowman might have a scheduling conflict with a show in Canada.

Crikey, he's not filling up the shedules there as well, is he?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Martha and the policeman friend of Gwen's join Torchwood next season.

Andy? I think the whole point of Gwen not recommending him for Torchwood is so that he wouldn't turn into her.
