OK... so pretty cool, yah?

Definitely a departure from the original series. They seem to be going down an Alias/24/La Femme Nikita angle. Very dark. Lots of secrets and backstories to pop up.

The "we'll trick her into working with us even though we own her and can secretly kill her anytime we want" subplot was inevitable. I like the "original bionic woman" angle. She seems to want to make as much of herself bionic as she can, while Jamie is resentful of the changes to made to her. In fact, it almost seems that her bionics have become an entity. She said herself in the beginning that she wasn't in control of what she was doing. I think the woman is dead and that the bionics are simply animating her body and accessing her personality.

I like the way they're handling the bionics themselves. No sounds effects per se, though there were some really subtle effects used the first time Jamie started sprinting through the woods that I loved. And I could've sworn that I heard a similar low effect played when the evil bionic chick was walking into her apartment, like she was so bionic that they were on and humming all the time.

And for some reason, I really dug the way they had Jamie feebly swat at the evil chick's bionic arm with her own normal arm as she choked her. Thought that was a nice touch.

I love the visual interface look with the little cursor bouncing around all the time indicating threat assessments and distances.

I think there's a lot of potential for cool storylines and cool, hot chick action. I'm a little worried that the networks are overloading us with continuing plot, heavy action shows this season. Heroes, Bionic Woman, Journeyman... and the other ones that I'm not watching. How much can we keep straight?

Anyway... good start. I'll tune in next week.

Did this thing shoot just down the road from Galactica or something? I counted three Battlestar actors. Does RDM know his cast are being poached? [Wink]

Yes, it's in Vancouver, just like Stargate, Eureka, Andromeda, The Dead Zone, Dark Angel, The 4400, Supernatural, Smallville, and The Masters of Science Fiction, to name a recent few (and not mentioning a dozen recent genre movies). Vancouverites know how to shoot decent science fiction. And do decent anime dubbing. [Smile]

Well, where decent = cheap, but thanks to the collapsing U.S. economy perhaps we'll get to attract some of those lucrative National Film Board of Canada dollars down south.

(Pow!)

I didn't think the show was all that great, really. The star is kind of bland and she didn't make any choices of her own She gets her powers by accident, like most superheroes, but then her boyfriend busts her out of the lab, and then the bad guy comes and picks a fight with her, and then the end. Compared to the Alias pilot, for example, it was awfully low-key.

Katie Sackhoff
Aaron Douglas

Who was the third?

I liked the scene in the second episode when Jamie and Ruth walked into the survivor's home in Paradise. BSG was playing on the TV.

Mark Sheppard.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the writing on this show. Not that I was expecting gold or anything, but there were a few instances where I flinched at the REALLY hammy dialoge and that's coming from someone who dosen't mind the dialogue on B5. [Wink]

On the subject of casting; I wonder if it is pure coincidence that they cast Miguel Ferrer as the head of a corperate project to create an enhanced human cyborg for law keeping purposes? I wonder how long before Ronny Cox shows up as his boss.
