The jump effects were kind of cool and there were a few funny little things, but from the very beginning it felt like a badly written comic book. It took all of 2 minutes for the "hero" to figure out how his powers worked.

The "hero" that we're supposed to sympathize with never does one nice thing for anyone except the girl he's trying to score with. The bad guy that we're supposed to hate is pretty much right and gets zero character development. The mysterious mom that's thrown in as a drama element felt like it was added in post.

Nothing is developed we're just supposed to accept that it's deep and meaningful and cool. I didn't even think the girl was that good looking.

I give it -.5 stars for teasing me then letting me down. I'm glad I saw it at the local discount theater and that I had friends there to make fun of it with me.

It was actually quite bad. The trailers for Indy and The Happening weren't too bad, though.

And, I actually found the girl kinda cute. A wee bit.

I didn't think it would be very good; I remember sometime last year when I saw the trailer and sort of thinking, That's it? A whole movie about people who can teleport? Glad I didn't watch it...

Incidentally, does anyone know how I might be able to add 'teleport' to firefox's spell-checker?

Or 'firefox' for that matter?

Right click on the word and select "Add to dictionary", which should be right under whatever suggested alternate spellings it's come up with.

As for the film, didn't see it, never saw a trailer for it so they're either not marketing it much over here or it's not going to be released until later in the year...or go straight to DVD.
From what you guys are saying, it sounds more like a tv series pilot than a movie. Who wants to lay odds that some tv producer will get the same idea?

In the case of "Firefox", you could also just start spelling it correctly. (Proper nouns begin with capital letters, you see.)

I like to commonize my nouns. Mostly through laziness, partially through a desire to see firefox enter English usage as a synonym for "browser." Kinda like hoover can mean vacuum cleaner, or scotch tape can mean cellophane tape. (Cuz who the fuck says cellophane, anyway? Oh hang on, don't they say sellotape in Britain?)

Yeah cellotape here, that and also that Saran wrap (Ceran?) stuff for you guys would be called Clingfilm. I remember working in a summer camp kitchen over in the US, and someone asked me to get a box of Seran wrap, and I was like "what the hell's that? Some kind of fajita?" Needless to say all the Americans there laughed at me. [Smile]

My dad always called it saran warp. We just call it plastic wrap, mostly, I have heard cling *wrap*, but not often.
