I just found out about this - and just watched it right then.

It's a 40-something minute fan-made movie - that nears the movies in it's attention to detail! Pretty good stuff.

Anyone else here seen it yet?

There's a trailer for it at youtube:

I thought it was REALLY well done. Aragorn was cast well. The orcs were pretty much STRAIGHT out of the movie. The soundtrack was good - I don't think there was a dud-effect in the whole thing.

It was pretty spectacular and supposedly made for just £3000!!

Go check it out. I torrented it.

Trailer was well-made, nothing groanworthy.

I assume the events in the movie are supposed to be canon backstory stuff straight from the appendices and from what is discussed at the council of Elrond, regarding pre-"War of the Ring"-Gollum. But as I remember it, both Aragorn and Gandalf had Gollum in custody on two separate occasions, and neither was in or near his old cave (as seemed to be the case in the end of the trailer), because Gollum had been out for years, obviously searching for the ring.

I hope these people have the balls to show Gollum as he really is, like in the Bakshi-version; a neurotic parasite and child-smotherer/eater, not just the tragic puppy-side, it's been overdone.

I'm pretty sure a live-action actor could make a great case of Gollum, no CGI needed. Like this.
