A good many of you have seen a weblog before, but have no effing clue what the word means.

A weblog is a news/information/personal site, on which certain people (the site owners) post news stories and bits of other stuff. Users can then comment on those stories.

Surely the most popular example of a weblog is Slashdot.

Therefore, I introduce to you, PLEH.NET!

Ok, right now, it's just an image or two, but there wil be an actual HTML page there within a day or so.

Pleh.net is a technology testbed for things showing up at other Solareclipse sites in the future. By visiting it every few days, you can watch as things unfold and change, unlike pretty much anything else I've tried to do before (ultra-secrecy)... I think the approach will work.

At the heart of the site will be a powerful, dynamic, but overall simple weblog system. Besides being able to pull over your profile, there won't be much integration with Flare.

Technology from the weblog system will form the heart of UP3's new backend, using some nice XML and HTML template tricks... It's a good bit LESS complex than the PHP system I'd been trying to get done.

That's a good thing.

I'll be revising the UP3 placeholder and the UP3 Q&A sheet in the next few days with more information and the like.

Pleh.net will also be host to a technology test of Flare 1.5, so we'll never run the risk of another SFCR screwup... (AKA "Ooooooops, that was NOT the right version of Ultimate.cgi! How many profiles got eaten THIS time?")

Yes, yes, Flare 1.5. Not 2. What you've known as Flare2 up to this point is now just Flare1andahalf... 2 is too big of a number for my plans. Flare2 will be revolutionary rather than evolutionary, and will be made available after the release of UBB6...

Anyway, I thought I'd finally post something and keep you guys updated.

Thoughts?

Pleh.net, wonder how many brain cells Charles fried coming up with that one.

Look at the past few years:
Jimmy Carter: Who we kidding, Valium Posterchild. We go to:
Ronald Reagan, Howdy Doody Sr. If it keeps getting benign, we might end up with:
Mr. Rogers, "Can you say Armageddon? Oops, too late." Or we can get macho and have:
Jack Nicholson vs. Clint Eastwood, Shortest debate in history, all Jack will have to say is "How can you debate me, you haven't opened your goddammed eyes in twenty years."

You're saying it's bad because it's a year old? Tsk, you yanks with your short attention spans.

MY design is over two decades old, and still looks superb.
