Ok. The time has finally come for me to learn C. First step, any of the programming gurus(i?) here know a good free compiler for either the DOS or W95/98 environments? Also, any opinions on Visual Studio 6?

You might be able to find a copy of gcc for Win9x, but you're really better off trying to use Linux for all your development needs... *L*
