Hey everyone.. I've been seeing a lot of unfamiliar names here, both old and new members. It seems that everyone thinks they can switch screen names and have everyone else intuit instantly who they used to be. I'm especially confused because of a few newbies who keep doing this, making it difficult to keep track of what i should be making fun of them, when they change their names three times in the space of a single thread.

Some people are easily recognizable by the remnants of their last member status line and sigs, but a lot of people are just confusing the hell out of me. The obvious ones I can deal with. UM=Ultra Magnus=U//Magnus=Ulcer Mongoose, and Malnurtured Snay obviously = Malnurured Snayer.

So everyone list your recent and not so recent handles...

for the record, I have been
CaptainMike
TheRealCaptainMike
DietCaptainMike

and

D.O.L.P.H.

I am Matrix, and always will be Matrix. I used to be Crusader, but for some reason it never worked. But that was in early 00'. If you can remember Crusader, then you got to lay off Flare alittle bit.

I guess some people get bored with their names after awhile.

For this board there will always be one Matrix. One of each of you guys as well, though keep changing your names...

Fred Sanford

Mirror Bashir
Jean Luc Picard
Jeen Luck Pikkurd

The Defiant

Most of those I didn't have for an hour.
Hmm, it's been a week, I need a new name... help me think of one besides Any of the above and 'Hello, I am stupid'.

I sometimes think about reverting to one of the names I used to be known by (USS Coyote or The First One) but decided that on the whole I really couldn't be bothered one way or the other. The people whose opinions matter to me know who I am, and so do Tim and Frank. 8)

DEfiant,

I'd recommend against changing your name so much while you're still so new. If Lee changed his name, we'd all make the adjustment pretty quickly because we all know who Lee is.

Not everyone knows who you are. I know I was surprised to read that list ... I didn't know all of those people were you! Leave your name alone until September, then change it ... you'll have a better chance of us remembering you.

Leave your name alone, post, and you WILL be accepted. Heck, we accepted CaptainMike. And before that, I ran the gauntlet myself.

I don't remember getting this many opportunities to get my act in gear, though ... [Big Grin]

I concur with Ultra Marksman ... for fuck's sake!

Defiant, you've just got to learn how not to act so stupid when you're here. I mean, would you be doing the same thing when you're meeting other people for the first time, or for that matter, any time? Learn what's been going on here and see how we all behave. If you want to stay adapt, otherwise leave 'cause you'd be wasting people's time. At least Koy's slowly adapting. If you've got some specialty, contribute it. We recognize Lobo for his great drawings. So far, you're only recognized as being the village idiot. We're not going to change ourselves for one person. If you don't like it here, you're free to leave. No one is stopping you from doing that.

Finally, look in my profile for who I am and who I've been.

Posted by Matrix (Member # 376) on :

Defiant, you really do need to relax a bit and enjoy your say here. You cannot be so wel... hyoer about subjects. Everything you do needs to be thought carefully because if it is true that your non-Art subjects are being closed, is because you are doing something against the rules for this forum. It's as simple as that. For example you cannot talk about Star wars in the Star Trek boards because we will burn you alive strip you down, and place you in the middle of a desert. Then maybe someone will move the topic. This is unfornately how we treat newbies. Take everything they say with a grain of salt and make it a learning experience for this board.

If you continue the self pity attitude, we will start relating to you, as that.

As for me, I have no clue what this board thinks of me.

If they continue, do stuff that makes you unhappy with the forum, contact CC or someone and express your problem.

I love most of the ship drawings posted though I don't always say so. I have no drawing abilities and are envious of you guys who can up with this stuff.

Started out at "The Great Link" DS9 forum as ET, short for Ed Toler. Switched to Kruge right after the Great Hack. Switched to "The Excalibur" when we got the first pictures of ship, aned later, when the board would except a four letter name, I went to Kosh. The same Kosh you have seen around the Trekbbs, for those who have been there, like CaptianMike, Defiant, Snayer and Tahna Los.

If an admin would be kind enough to send me tha Password for The Excalibur, I would like to use that account again. I no longer have the E-mail address connected to the account, so I can't get it that way. send to password to:

You realize that in the short time you have been here, you have had 18 publicly displayed names. 18 different identities in 5 weeks. Or, roughly on average, 3 to 4 name changes a week.

This is in comparison to posters who have been here since the beginning of this forum (three and a quarter years now) and never changed names once. Even Darth Jeep up there has only changed names a half dozen or so times in the two years that he has been here.

Have I had that many?

I was "JeffKardde" for a long time, then I added a space ... "Jeff Kardde." Does that count as two different names? I was also "MeGotBeer" and "Kattus Magnus" (for about an hour, apparently everyone thought I was Ultra Magnus returned from exile). Then I was, I think, "Malnurtured Snay" (I took that name last August, or early September). I added an "-er" for a while, then cut it down to "Snay." I was also, briefly, "Jeffy."

Ok, I do count six distinct names. Hmm. Interesting.

Oh yeah, I've to add my two eurocents to this yet, I think. I'm Jernau Morat Gurgeh, or just Gurgeh.

Can this be? Has Lee failed to ever see Borat? Has he now made himself look like an old man with no grasp on what young people watch nowadays? Eh?

WTF's a "Borat"?

Posted by Jernau Morat Gurgeh (Member # 318) on :

You know the guy who does Ali G, of Indahouse fame? Well he also does another show where he pretends to be a Turkish (or some kind of Muslim) guy called Borat who does documentaries about English life. Hilarity ensues.

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

Oh yeah, that. You mean it's really catching on now or something? I pretty much ignored it when it featured on the series, since it was in effect parodying the "I kiss you" guy who's much funnier and actually for real.

Borat is from Kazakstan. Ali G has a movie coming up, or that already has come up, I'm not sure which. I'm not THAT much into Ali G that I'd consider debating your pesky demeanings, General "Lee", but I don't think the movie will stink, at least not as much as the Bean movie did. :-Y

What the hell is with everyone changing names so much? I've been DT since Utopia Planitia, since The Great Link, and there are people here who change their names as often as Liam changes his underwear? (and by that I mean once or twice a week (to you Canadians, we civilized consider that to be infrequent))

Well BWC, let me give you some tips. You could go by Loser, but that might be too obvious. If you're giving it enough thought to change names that many times, just take an extra thirty seconds and come up with something good! Or call yourself Sol System and just hope people accept it.

Anything's better than thoughtychops for a name. It's so bad it's disgusting. I'll stick with it, though. Twenty different aliases on the net is getting old. I can't remember them all and still have a life.

BWC, on the other hand, is a good name. You can make it stand for stuff.

Like: Boring White Crud. Blunt Willy Choad.
Bloody Wanking Catholic. Etc. Etc.

So I like it.

I need sleep.

Posted by Thoughtchopper (Member # 480) on :

Porno is cool. I don't know what Family Fortunes is. Unless it's another porno--which would be kinda sick with it's title--I'm going to say that homemade pornography beats Family Fortunes nine times out of ten.

Sweet merciful god. Today, at lunch, as I enjoyed a semi-delicious but mostly dull ham sandwich, I watched my mother watching the new version of Press Your Luck on the Gameshow Network. Aha, I said to myself. I bet I could get a good post out of this, assuming the subject ever comes up. Which it never will. Except it has!

Posted by Thoughtchopper (Member # 480) on :

Happens to me all the time. I started writing that stuff down, when it happens. I plan on reading the whole list every few months, to see if there is any greater plan to it all...

But that's another thread entirely.

Do they still have the animated whammies?

Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :

Live-action Whammies. Large men with no necks in Whammy suits come out from behind the curtain to turn you upside down, shake out all your cash, give you a good roughing up, & then run in back.

Wait, now that sounds like the Japanese version.

best game shows i remember: Fun House (much better than Double Dare); Jeopardy (what, I'm a geek); and The Price is Right.. (only for the extreme cheesiness)

worst game shows: Supermarket Sweep, anything of the current Millionaire-Survivor-Weakest Link era..

You may remember #621 from such earlier handles as Stingray and OnToMars.

This is, for the record, the third time which I have changed my handle and have a pretty decent turnaround time, which should continue. Unless I get tired of the reference faster than I think. In which case, rest assured that my new handle will not have the same initials or phonetic alliteration.

That is all.

since you mention it...

i cant find the thread, but a months ago we were discussing girls, drugs and sci-fi; and the question was posed as to whether they could all go together, giving the recipient of the girls, drugs and sci-fi a heightened state of achievement i call 'Nerdvana'..

Wednesday night i saw Attack of the Clones for the first time, with Michelle (and Mary Jane, winkwinknudgenudge). I can honestly say that i achieved Nerdvana. And kissing her was a pleasant distraction from all those annoying scenes where The Boy was talking to The Girl instead of doing stuff or acting well.

dont get me wrong.. Mark Summers is the shiznit.. i especially love how he used to comb the shag carpeting at his apartment twenty times a day, stopping only to rearrange his shelves and wash his hands every five and a half minutes. I'm just saying the show wasn't as cool as him.
OK, the slime was.

Fun House, however, always had loads of laughs. I would have recurring dreams about pulling tags out of things, as if tags were the only world currency in my six-year old eyes. And J.D. Roth.. he was cool.. a couple years ago i noticed he was hosting another fun game show.. Sex Wars, and i was flabbergasted that it was a crinkly eyed goateed version of one of the forgotten heroes of my childhood.. repressed memory icons, hooray!
