How excited are you about the up coming movie Star Trek: Nemesis?

I was going to vote, but there was nothing that said, "I've read the first reviews, and they are so bad that I may never see another trek film in my life>"

You left that out.

There was a review at "Ain't it cool news" this morning, but I can't get the page now, here is the link anyway.

Anyway, if you go to movies based on thier reviews, then I'm very sorry. I'll see this flick, no matter what, cause its Star Trek.

Additionally, many, MANY non-trek fans have been buzzing about this movie. So hopefully, Nemesis will cash in, and we will see Star Trek 11 in a few years.

Plus, this is a spoiler-free thread, leave your horrible spoiler reviews out of it. Fuck, even some of the characters names are mis-spelled in that review.

Movie reviews are not my PRIMARY reason for choosing which flicks to go see, but they've been helpful in making the final decision.

There have been rave reviews for plenty of movies in the past, but I haven't gone to see them because I just wasn't interested. However, I remember not being interested in the movie "Contact" until I read a very positive review, and went to see it -- and it's one of my all-time favorite films now.

Let's face it, though -- movie reviews are really little more than an opinionated advertisement. Most people are probably only vaguely aware of upcoming movies, and decide which ones to watch based on the reviews. Especially for a Trek film, which generally doesn't get as much exposure as some of the real blockbusters do...

IMO Star Trek films ARE real blockbuster, i'll be seeing this one more then The Two Towers for sure. Nothing beats the Enterprise.

"Nothing beats the Enterprise."

With the possible exception of an outdated Klingon Bird-of-Prey run by two annoying Klingon sisters and an El-Aurian madman.

This is true.

We will see how the Ent-E fairs.

Hmm, I can't even view the results of the poll and I set it up!! Could it be because it was moved?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I believe that's exactly the reason. Polls aren't allowed anywhere but the Lounge.

There, now it works again.

Wha? Where was I when this was announced? [Confused]

Asleep?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Well, I don't think it was announced. Charles has taken to adding new stuff to the board at random and never telling anyone about it. But, since this is the only Forum w/ a "New Poll" button at the bottom...

Just for the record, I don't usually read reviews, much less let them decide what I watch, but I've been let down by Trek so often in the last few years, that I now expect the movie to be bad. I can't say I've really liked any of the Next Gen films.
