I need the install file for it. None of my message histories are accessible in 2003b which I foolishly installed instead. I've been emailing ICQ support and so far they've given me instructions for retrieving the database from every single ICQ version except. . . You guessed it.

I've just sent this mail:

I'm sorry, but this does not help either. I can't see why you don't understand what the problem is? I was using ICQ 2003a. Two Thousand and Three A. A for Apple. I am now using ICQ 2003b. Two Thousand and Three B. B for Banana. When I rebuilt my PC, I saved the database from 2003a into a file called, believe it or not, 2003a. In there are various files, most of them incorporating my ICQ number - 10218278 - including 10218278.idx which is about 6 Mb and I know from past experience is where my messages are stored.

I have located the C:\Program Files\ICQ\2003b. In there is a subdirectory called "10218278." But there are no .idx files in there. There is one called "Messages10218278.fpt" which is already fairly large. But pasting the files from my 2003a directory into this one doesn't work - none of the files are overwritten. I'm going to remove 2003b from my PC, try to locate an install file for 2003a, so I can at least retrieve my message Histories and save them as text files. It's bloody inconvenient but I don't see what else to do.

So, not expecting another reply there!

Meanwhile, my wife is happily snorting salt water up her nose because she's just had an operation and needs to clear it out. It's totally revolting. Just so you understand my mental state!

Just as I read this, she's doing it again!

Happily? You sure that's really salt she's snorting? B)

It makes her nose feel better. Which gives you an idea of how it feels the rest of the time, if having salty water going through it is an improvement. . .

What are you doing to the poor girl?

Double post, somehow.

Well, it wasn't really noticeable unless you looked up her nose, but it was broken badly a few years ago and the whole central piece above the septum was out of alignment. This made it difficult for her to breathe through her nose, and as for having a cold or runny nose, forget it, total nightmare. She's just had it fixed.

So she had a cast on for a week, and two black eyes to boot. This means that I've been getting the You're An Evil Wifebeater stares for two weeks.

Well, if you're double posting her, you've got to expect stuff like that to happen.
