I was watching "House" last night and suddenly, a Mastercard commercial comes on. It's the standard "So and so... $X" format, but it's all about MacGyver stuff: Shoe laces, paper clips, chewing gum... and there's a guy running around instantly recognizable as early-season MacGyver by the telltale leather jacket and khakis. But then I did a double take... "That IS MacGyver!"

Sure enough, it's a somewhat portly-looking Richard Dean Anderson reprising his role (sort-of). They never actually say "MacGyver", which made the commercial even cooler.

Anyone else see it?

EDIT: Found it on-line... hilarious.

They should have given him a mullet wig. Then everything would be perfect.

This aired during the Superbowl, as I recall.

Mac didn't have the mullet in early seasons. His hair was actually relatively short.

But still, when the majority of people think of MacGyver they picture the mullet. Myself included.

I see your Macgyver doing Mastercard & raise you a David Hasselhoff doing Blue Swede.

Man..Hasselhoff would've made a fucking AWESOME Riker. AWESOME.

The mullet is so you can tell what season. The longer the mullet the later the season.

I thought Anderson looked a bit heavier, not like he has a reason for daily workouts without SG-1. It's all cool though.

RDA actually commented on lack of mullet in 'Making of' featurette [Smile]

That Hasselhoff video is... just... friggin' awful. How does one allow oneself to be part of something so dreadful? I think the first red flag should've been when the director said, "Ok David... sing, and pretend this... like... cube is floating down into your hands. And then, ummm... ok, pretend to pull the cube into two pieces. But keep singing."

Oddly, though, I agree that he would have turned in a solid performance as Riker. If he could just not smile all the time. His smile is a little cheesy.

I think I'm going blind and deaf with this... and also I think that is even more gay than I am.

Impossible. No one can be more gay than you are.

He's not that gay, his oven mit clashes with his outfit.

Yes, but it matches the window frames.

He thought about, he considered how the house would feel, and he took the bullet. What a guy.

I couldn't watch the Hoff video all the way through. And I've just had a rather explosive reminder of what I had for breakfast.
