When Pen Spinning Goes Bad

The first half of the video is boring as hell. The second is a lot better. The last five seconds are what makes it.

Few videos on the internet amuse me, but this one blows my mind. Well that, and the bowl I just smoked. Either way I'm laughing my ass off so it's all good.

Hehe, I was getting tired of videos were people do stupid tricks and act like they're being cool.

So did he get shocked at the end or it just blew up a second time?

The noise he makes - could either be Russian or him convulsing... then there is that little wimper at the end.

At the start, he also looks like Dwight Shrute with those glasses on and his weird stare at the camera.

Nope that was a shock, and by the way he reacted it was not a minor one. His mistake (other than the obvious one of not unplugging the lamp) was touching the metal lamp shade while he reached for the pen.

A shock like that would involve a trip to the hospital, so it's a good thing for him that there was someone nearby.

I feel like a curr for thinking this but I'm a little dissapointed that he didn't die. That would have been a good Darwin award.

Right, we don't want to risk more people getting disappointed. You want to lead by example, show the kid how it's done?
That lamp-shock thing wouldn't be a Darwin award anyway, the lamp socket was not part of the trick. It has to be premeditated, like riding a tricycle down a glacier, or these Copperfields.

Dude, I don't think anyone who has ever been given a Darwin award left their house that morning with that intention.

If it's premeditated, like riding a tricycle down a glacier then it's Jackass. The lamp socket wasn't intentional, it was just random, spontaneous, stupidity, which is what the Darwin awards are all about.

And what crawled up your ass this morning?

LOL can never stop laughing at idiots (too bad they breed faster than everyone else, thus why idiots are not yet exstinct...)

Da_Bang80: I continued and finished your own line of thought. Even though you added the "curr" bit, I thought the phrase "disappointed that he didn't die" was the same judgement as pulling a pen from a lamp socket. There's a difference between observing Darwin award events and wishing for them, is my point.

Well you could then say that juggling hand-grenades is "Jackass", but that's the kind of thing they mention.
Removing a stuck pen from a lit lamp is really bad judgement, but it feels a bit mundane for a darwin award, like checking the time on your wrist-watch while you're holding a cup of coffee.

Rather than derailing the thread with ethics and nitpicking about Darwin award rules, I'll show what I meant by "premeditated".
I thought this was in the same ballpark as the pen-clip.
