That reminds of a map of the U.S. from the film Wild, Wild, Wild West which the main villain drew. It was something stupid with New England being given back to the British, the French reclaiming the Louisiana Purchase (cause they wanted it so bad in the first place), the Southwest going back to Spain (not Mexico), and those treacherous Canadians receiving Washington state and Oregon. So are there rednecks in Middle Earth?

Indeed. It was said that originally Dixielanders were without any language of their own, and they developed their Mullet tongue out of elements taken from other languages, though debasing and coarsening them in the process ("Hoosegow! Hoosegow! Guano! Nazg! Heehee...Dip!).
As they spread across the South, they became divided into separate tribes, each with its own Hick dialect. This meant that yokels from different clans were often unable to communicate in their own language, and in these situations the Black Speech (Palaver) was often employed instead.

I heard about this. I can't believe that they're letting this slip by. Its because of shit like this that makes me ashamed to be an American sometimes.

No offence taken- I also think there's something deeply wrong in this state.

Possibly the root is the outright corruption of lobbiests (this one from the NRA) writing the very laws that get Floridians killed.

The NRA has also passed leglislation making it legal to bring liscenced firearms anywhere except airports and hospitals- you can not only bring a gun to the state capitol, but the law expresly forbids capitol security from stopping someone and asking for their permit.

And of course, the NRA wrote (and their cronies in the leglislature and governor's office passed) a law that forbids doctors from talking about gun safety with their patients- upon forfiture of their liscence and jail time- for even asking if the patient (or a child's parents) have a gun.
Even if it's to ensure a child's safety in a state with many child firearm fatalities each year.
That one's going all the way to the Supreme Court- three guesses how that's going to go with the court's current makeup?

But the NRA is only as powerful as the money they can spend- and that money comes from the gun manufacturers.

Of course, the NRA is hardly the only people pulling the strings of leglislaters- the anti-abortion nuts, exotic reptile importers, cell phone companies, private prisons, Big Sugar and of course, Florida Power and Light.

Any time a senator or congressman proposes leglislation, you can look at his doners and find someone that has paid for it.

Perfectly legal- and it's a nationwide phenomenon...but here, anyone can murder anyone else as long as there's no direct witnesses- as long as they say they were in fear for their life, lethal force is now a right.

Police must now prove a person was not afraid at the time to even arrest them- and how do you prove that?
You cant.

Stand your Ground leglislation is being prepared in several other states- Texas, Colorado, Utah- the usual far right leglislative strongholds.

And that boys and girls is the way it is.

Very illuminating. To drag this thread kicking and screaming, pissing and shitting back on topic, if Mordor is Florida (and Barad-dur Orlando?), would that make the Shire Washington, and Minas Tirith Dallas?

Nice. Very ingeneous. Makes the features of the country a little more understandible for someone who 1. hasn't visited, 2. has stared at LotR maps for a large part of their life. Could do one for Australia, but most of it is desert.

Martin was carrying a drink and candy when George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, called 911 to report a suspicious man, authorities said.

The 911 dispatcher told Zimmerman not to confront him. But by the time police arrived, Martin lay dead with a gunshot wound in the chest, according to Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee.

911 tapes released Friday detail moments of terror in the neighborhood as residents made a flurry of calls describing a gunshot and a teen wailing for help.

In some of the recordings, a voice screams "Help, help!" in the background.

"There were gunshots right outside my house. There's someone screaming, I just heard a guy shot," a neighbor says. "Hurry up, they are right outside my house."

Recordings mirrored the same details: A man outside was crying for help, followed by the sound of a gunshot.

"Hurry please ... there's someone screaming outside," a neighbor whispers. "There's a gunshot, hurry up ... there's someone screaming. I just heard a gunshot."

In another call, a woman begs the dispatchers to send help, saying someone is "screaming and hollering" for help.

Moments later, she describes a light at the scene of the shooting.

"Oh my God ..." she said, "There's still somebody out there walking with a flashlight."

Zimmerman told police he shot the teen in self defense, authorities said, and remains free as the state attorney investigates. Police said he has not been charged because there are no grounds to disprove his story of what happened.

"The evidence and testimony we have so far does not establish that Mr. Zimmerman did not act in self-defense," the police chief said. "We don't have anything to dispute his claim of self-defense, at this point, with the evidence and testimony that we have."

Police released the tapes the same day the teen's relatives said the they are outraged that Zimmerman remains free.

"It's surprising. It's shocking," said Tracy Martin, the victim's father. "It lets me know that justice is just not being served here. All we want is justice for our son. We're not asking for anything out of the ordinary."

CNN has made numerous attempts to contact Zimmerman, but have been unsuccessful. It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney.

Some have accused Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, of profiling the black teen.

His father delivered a statement to the Orlando Sentinel this week saying his son moved out of his home after receiving death threats. George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
