Oh good, multiple choice. This I can handle.

1.) 1850-1900. Unless you're from the south, in which case it would be 1850-2000.

2.) Patrick Henry.

3.) The foundation of the British Parliamentary system. I guess.

4.) Readmission of the Confederate states and the protection of the rights of Black citizens, I suppose.

5.) I believe they were soldiers in one episode. And they played a mean pair of air guitars. On their television show.

6.) Toothpaste should have been an answer, but the correct one is that evolution thingy.

7.) Slaves were free in areas of the Confederate states not held by the Union.

8.) The purpose of the authors? To ensure the propagation of their genes, I suppose.

But, uh, *cheats*, to gain ratification of the Constitution. (But I cheated in a smart way!)

9.) Man-made satellite.

10.) The Maine/Missouri slave state/free state one. Yeah.

1: 1861-1865, to be specific.

2: I would have said Thomas Paine if it was a choice, but after seeing the name, I know it's Patrick Henry.

3: The Magna Carta was a document that the king (John, of Robin Hood legend, as I recall) was forced to sign giving up his supposed "divine right", thus giving power to the parliment.

4: Reconstruction was the process by which the south was readmitted into the union after the civil war.

5: Beavis and Butthead are two cartoon characters who, for some inexplicable reason, have their own show on MTV. And a movie.

6: The Scopes "Monkey" Trial was about the teaching of evolution in schools. I believe that the teacher Scopes was from Dayton, TN.

7: The Emancipation Proclamation executive order declared that all slaves in states currently in rebellion against the federal government were free. This did not include the slaves in the three slave states that stayed with the union.

8: I've never thought about their purpose, to tell you the truth. But as the federalist papers talk about the purpose of the constitution and bill of rights, I'd say it was to convince the people to ratify the constitution.

9: Sputnik was the first man-made satellite. The meaning of the name escapes me.

10: The Missouri Compromise was the deal by which Missouri could be admitted as a slave state, and Maine would be made a free state, so as to maintain their balance in congress.

Show you how much of a "git" I am...

Jay, that does show that many people misunderstand what the Civil War was about. Even after 140 years, it is still misunderstood.

I can't wait until the real deal comes out for Vietnam.

Somehow you were linked to this page, which doesn't really exist. Well, this one does, but the one you were trying to get to doesn't. Actually, that's not really true either, because it probably does, but either you mistyped it or our webmaster is asleep at the wheel. If the later is the case (you were linked here from a page within **********.net) then please let us know.

If you were linked here from an external site, which is most often the case, it would be nice of you to let them know.
