Information on topic
I am wary of this administration's policy. The policy of a shadow government would seem to be sound; however, this president has expressed desires which are contrary to our Constitution. Two Decembers ago, after winning the Supreme Court decision, Pres.-Elect Bush expressed in a press conference that he would be happy as a dictator in a dictatorship. I pray this desire of his is not entwined in the policy.

AIRC, he said that it would be SIMPLER if it was a dictatorship. Quite a difference.

I think there's limited use such a shadow government could do in such an event, anyway. Just lurking in the background going "nyah-hah, we're the secret real government and you don't know where we are!" isn't going to actually enable them to rule anything.

So they take some mid-high level bureaucrats and hide them in a hill just in case of the unlikely event that the entire 'real' government gets fragged.

It's not a 'shadow' government at all!

It's an EGH!

Doesn't surprise me at all. At a State of the Union address at the end of the Gulf War, Daddy Bush said something about a "New World Order". And I read at abovetopsecret.com that the NWO uses people like Clinton or G.W to run America.

This sounds straight out of a Tom Clancy Novel. So what's next? The conquering of Canada as a terrorist nation?

I was skeptical, Jack, until I actually went to http://www.abovetopsecret.com . Holy shit! I can't believe there's so much evidence! To think I've happily gone to bed every night not considering stuff like that. We've all gotta be more vigilant and stuff! Woah.

It's too late for that to save us, Tom. The Masons have already taken the high ground. And blocked my amusing image! I am highly alarmed!

I saw this in an episode of the outer limits, once.

Come to think of it, the director was Niell Fearnley.

Fearnley > Fearn > Fern > Plant > Bush.

It's gotta be subliminal or something.

Should I even point out that Earth isn't supposed to have a Shadow government 'til around 2260 or so?

LOL!

That's a good one.

Don't encourage them Jack, or they'll all start trying to be funny.

"And I read at abovetopsecret.com that the NWO uses people like Clinton or G.W to run America."

Actually, the NWO uses Hulk Hogan. Because you see, stuff, and, things. Yes.

HEY! I resent that remark! We are not a terrorist nation, and we are not a corrupt (well maybe a little), or illegitimate government that openly harbours terrorists.

Not yet, anyway...

Just wondering why the people who will succeed the president were not informed about the shadow government. Surely the ones who have to deal with this government, should it be neccessary, should be informed.

Well, people are usually briefed about all the high level top secret stuff after they become president, not before.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Actually, Simon, when either the Democratic or Republican candidate recieves his/her party's nomination, they begin recieving briefings on world events ... so that if they do become President, they're up to speed from the get-go.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Only the Republican and Democratic candidates? I guess that just shows how screwed-up out political system is, when, even in an official capacity, it simply goes w/o saying that one of those two parties will win.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Yeah, seriously. Although if the Green Party could make itself a contender to recieve federal funds, I'm sure Ralph Nader would get briefings too [Smile]

I said all.

I wonder how many of the presidents in the last 30 years have immediately asked questions like "so who DID kill Kennedy?" and "tell me about Area 51."

Speaking of which, Monty Burns lamented about Scrooge McDuck in tonight's The Simpsons. Hah!

I suppose that this is where Dick Cheney and Mike Bloomberg have been spending most of their time. Or at some gay nudie beach. One or the other.

In all reality, the 'secret bunker' is one of the least-kept secrets the government has. We've had one or another for decades... one of the old ones was recently closed permanently, although I heard there was some talk of some hotel chain or amusement co. buying it and opening it to the public.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Yeah, I saw the History Channel special on it. It was built under a wing of a resort (Green Briar?) in West Virginia (interestingly enough, the government paid for the new wing to cover the building of the bunker).

Some theorize that if members of Congress had been evacuated there during the Cuban Missile Crisis, we wouldn't be here right now (apparently, it would've frightened the Soviets into a preemptory launch).

A reporter for The Washington Post heard some rumors, did some digging, and broke the story about the bunker (quite big -- large enough for all members of the House and Senate, and capable of being sealed for a good number of months, I believe) in the Sunday Magazine.

Shortly thereafter, the bunker was closed and is now (I believe) a tourist attraction.

Was there enough space for the War Room? Including the Big Board?

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

I don't know. Turn on The History Channel why don't you?

Posted by First of Two (Member # 16) on :

Apparently, there wasn't enough room for the W.O.P.R and "Joshua."

Professor Falken could not be reached for comment.

Well, duh! They'd have seen the Big Board!

Couldn't we all just give peace a chance?

Wait...no, that never works.

Someone please drop a 16 ton weight on my head.

I'd like to go there some time, and play Golf, but the greens fees are $100 for 18 holes, and I'd probably set off the "Peasent Detectors", and get thrown out.

[Cool]

Wow that bunker sure sound like a 5 star hotel... oh well, I guess you can't complain when the rest of the world is being reduced to cinders. I found a site that was offering bidding for a reconditioned ballistic missile silo. Basically they just ripped the classified stuff out (and the missile unfortunately), and put in a sauna, more luxurious appliances, and stuff. now it's just like a very large undergound house.

Posted by Ultra von Magnus (Member # 239) on :

They should have had saunas in place during the Cold War, then it mightn't have been so Cold!

Posted by Da_bang80 (Member # 528) on :

I'm hoping you are aware of the real reason it was dubbed the "cold" war, and your "joke" was a half-assed attempt at humour. Cause that was BAD! (no offence)

I wouldn't worry, he knows he's as funny as a whacko with a CAR-15 running through a crowded shopping mall shooting everyone he sees.

But I say that with love.
