Got this in my email today.

Says it was created by a 17-year-old girl from Washington state.

Uhm.. so the Mother of America is an armed teen mother?

Nice artwork, though.

Yes, she keeps me warm and safe with threats and misconception...

When I read this a song came to mind, about 3 to 4 years old, has the above as part of the lyrics. Any clues?

I thought I recognized it for a second, but then I realized I was remembering "She sits alone / waiting for suggestions." Which is kinda close in terms of sound, it has to be admitted, and thus reaffirms some degree of intelligence on my part. Though the fact that I thought of the song that I did may well refute that.

I digress. Google seemed to be under the impression that that particular lyrical string does not appear to be recorded on the web.

quote:
Eliza Gauger, a 17-year-old student from Bellingham, Washington, drew this cartoon of a gun-toting Lady Liberty.

After she posted it on her online journal the day after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, it instantly became an internet rage.

“I was illustrating my own mother’s willingness to do anything, even something she hated—my mother is terribly afraid of guns—to protect her children,” said Gauger.

“I think America feels the same way about its citizens.”

I like it, but was it an 'internet rage'... First I've seen of it.....

"I think America feels the same way about its citizens."

Assuming she was talking about the USA, and not actually "America"... 3.6 million square miles of dirt has feelings?

She maybe a little rough around the edges....

The statue has feeling too???

Why do you guys have to be jerks?

Her drawing is a reflection of her feelings. She sees the US as a child cradled and protected in the arms of liberty and freedom. It is simple and evocative.
