Ten years for chopping someone up after pre-meditated homicaide?

Small wonder us Americans could give a shit that the world thinks we're excessive in our judicial punishments or that they think the death sentence is inhumane.

I mean fuck, the victim's parents will know that in just a decade the killer of their daughter will be free and living the life she planned....
I bet people get harsher sentences for stealing money.

It's a fairly large leap to go from "10 years isn't much for murdering someone, is it?" to "let's fry the bitch yeehaw I want me some ribs!"

Well...no. It's really not.
Not if you knew the victim anyway (no, i didn't, but I've known others...)
I'd say it's more like "Ten years isn't anything for murdering someone."

My favorite is people convicted of multiple homicides that recieve "multiple consecutive life sentences" as punishment.
As though they have "multiple" lives with which to serve them.
It becomes a bad joke.

or serving them concurrently and they are eligible for parole in 15 years.

It's a shame when society fears criminals rather than criminals fearing society.

Tomoko Kaneda had discovered that her boyfriend was fucking her best friend, Yoshiko Nagata.
KANEDAAAA!

I'd like to see the statistical data that shows even the slightest correlation between the level of fear for society among criminals as fucked up as this one and sentence length.

No fear for the criminals...they cant vote once convicted, so why bother to make them afraid?

Silly.

Besiides, what is there to be afraid of? Still serving time when they're 700 years old?
I wonder how many criminals just go all out, knowing they already face life in prison for any one of their crimes?

I would: in for a penny... [Wink]
