I noticed someone saying they couldn't edit a post in Starships. I just tried to delete a double post of mine and was told I didn't have permission. Anyone else had a problem?

I have never been able to edit my posts, nor create a thread. I kinda thought I had spend more time on the forums to do that, but now that you mention it...
How does one edit a post, regularly?

Now that you mention it, I couldn't post a reply to the Ganaral Discussion board on Saturday. I could access the reply page, adn enter a post, but it just wouldn't post the damn thing. That might have just been a temporary problem with my server, though.

*Opens new page, and notices that indeed there is no Edit button -- hmm. Suspect.*

Nimrod: you should have no problem opening a new thread in boards like General Sci-fi, DS9, Voyager, and General Discussion, Network Projects, Starships, Creativity, Lounge, Flameboard, and Forum Contests.
Just hit the "New Topic" button at the top.

I have no idea about SW, though, as I will never subject myself to that filth ;-

You need a Forum password from the Almighties (or be an Administrator/Moderator)to post on Incoming Hail though.

And I think you actually have to ask someone permission to post on Forum Contests. Otherwise it'd be flooded with any pic anyone thought amusing. And that can't do. Oh no.

N.B. don't take what I say as gospel/evolution of the species (whatever your inclination) though.

You've probably noticed that the post-edit button is gone. This is only the first stage in my master plan. Using my new Forum Destructo-Device, parts of Flare are being transferred to another dimension where chaos reigns and racoons wear polo shirts for some reason. Each day, a different section will be removed. Sure, you probably won't miss the edit button today or the forum categories tomorrow, but within a week all that will be left is the ValueClick ads. And the "All times are Eastern (US)." text.

Unless a secret ransom is delivered to an undisclosed location within a certain amount of time, Flare will be gone forever. Well, I suppose you could go to the chaotic, polo-racoon dimension and retrieve it, but that's unlikely, since green cardboard is obsolete. Wait, that's not the reason. Ah, I'll figure it out later.

"Sully, for Shame! And don't be foolish! What are we trying to practice every day? If our friendship depends on things like space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we've destroyed our own brotherhood! But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don't you think that we might see eachother once or twice?"

We run UBB 5.38.

About a day after I started hacking away, 5.38a was released, then 5.38b, c, and eventually d.

a or b fixed a little bug which eats the edit/delete function... The bug only exists in 5.38-nil.

It is only triggered through a series of certain events.

The upcoming 5.39b/c upgrade and the integration of SIRS should fix things up...

Thread closed.
