Hello everyone. I have seen most startrek episodes at least 2 times each but sadly enough, I have never been to a convention. I wanted to ask you guys where I could find information on where the next one or next few ones are going to be. Thanks for any help you can give.

Welcome to Flare.
Conventions are thrown by all sorts of people, and thus there isn't, as far as I know, any central clearing house for dates. (Though you'd think treknews.com or somebody would have them. Maybe they do?) Anyway, Creation Entertainment is one of the larger companies that hold them. Take a look.

Not that I hit the convention circuits as much as I did when I was in my teens, Baltimore's SHORE LEAVE annual con is held about a mile and a half from where I live, and I'll get there on Friday night to hang out with Howie Weinstein and Dennis Bailey at the Writer's Show, while everybody stands in line for Peter David.

Since most of my experience with the Trek community has been by mail and on line, I wonder how many of you have been to or go to conventions. I've been to a total of three live Trek events in my life: a slide show at the Minneapolis public library with DC Fontana in 1973, a big convention in SF (Creation?) in 1990, and another convention in Minneapolis the first year of DS9. Does anyone go to conventions now, and how many have you been to? Is anyone a member of a local Star Trek fan club (with actual physical meetings)?

I've been to a couple in Columbus and one in Cleveland. I saw Shatner speak in Columbus (he signed autographs for some unGodly amount) and I got my picture taken with the scumptious Jennifer Lien after giving her a painting I did of Kes. ive been to five conventions held here in Portland, Oregon. They filmed 'trekkies' here once and the back of my head is in one of scenes. I'll post a screenshot sometime.
Anyway, in my experience conventions are really fun just for meeting the actors/actresses. The whole room with all the stuff you can buy is fun but some of that stuff is expensive. the most ive ever spent was in the auctions, i think it was around $300.

I've been to two, here in the bustling community of Yakima. The first time I won tickets and got in for free because I am cool, and also lucky. They were ok. DeLancie (the first time) and Takei (the second) had some interesting stories to share, and not every question asked of them was lame. I think, in general, that they can either be fun events in which to revel in the backwaters of modern pop culture, or they can be frightening nightmares of large people in too-small shirts with bumpy heads. I'm not sure there's much middle ground. It depends on who you go with.
