Has anyone seen the Trailer for Unimatrix Zero yet? It looks absolutely awesome!
Some great special effects. New Borg Cube designs, the Delta Flyer being destroyed, and Janeway being assimilated.
Looks to be a very intertaining episode!

Where in the...? Do I even want to know where that sig/status line came from...?

Anyhoo, I found the Unimatrix Zero trailer rather riviting. Can't wait! Now I have 2 things to wait for for the fall... The VGR season premiere and the ninth NF book!

Well, the sig is a quote from Janeway in the episode where she went out in the DF w/ those three crewmen. She said it to the surly one from deck 15, apparently as a reference to his attitude. Personally, I'd like to know just what that particular gene really does, so we can see what Janeway was actually accusing him of, despite the writers' apparent intentions. :-)

Hopefully, we get to see some missing crewmen on the season finale, like Vorik and Carey. Voyager's gonna need an acting Chief Engineer during the 7th season premiere.

Hm... Exactly how many different designs can you have for a cube? I'd think there would only be one: a cube. *L*

Methinks it's an armored cube too. Maybe the Borg queen thought "Hey, the diamond was trashed too easily, maybe I'll switch to the Armored Mini-cube model".
It looks cool, nonetheless.

Speaking of Vorik and Carey, we haven't heard anything about Carey for awhile, but in "The Haunting of Deck Twelve", we heard the malfunctioning computer say "Ensign Vorik is in Main Engineering".
At least now we know that Vorik is still on the ship.

Pre-Nissan, Popmaze? I have a '91 Nissan NX-2000.

This all is very interesting, new cube, Janeway of Borg, etc.

But I wish Voyager writers would leave the Borg alone, each time they ruin what they were suppose to be more and more.

The biggest problem was the huge jumps forward that took'em past Borg space. Now they need to make flashback episodes of they need to go back to Borg space (or both in 'Dark Frontier').

Janeway's face doesn't look screwed up enough. There needs to be the standard Borg eyepiece and her skin needs to be nastified a bit more. It looks too much like she just has a suit on.

Maybe she will further nastify as the ep progresses.

Well, I must point out that Picard wasn't as screwed up as well when he was assimilated.

Like Picard, Janeway is probably only partly assimilated, otherwise she may not be recoverable as Picard was.

You know, this is starting to remind me of that fanfic story "The Best of Both Girls" somebody wrote back after "Scorpion"...

remember it?

Oh, yeah, and "Borg Space" does not necessarily = "areas into which the Borg have penetrated." In fact, I would imagine that "Borg Space" means where the Borg have assimilated EVERYBODY.

Have found some new information about Voyager's Finale.
I'm refering to the StarTrek official site news section (05.22.00 Spotlight: Building a Better Borg).

" The Borg are back as Star Trek: Voyager airs its sixth season finale "Unimatrix Zero." This time, the villains that fans love to hate have problems of their own. The Borg Queen -- reprised by Susanna Thompson -- finds out that there's a virtual escape hatch from the Collective where drones can romp around as individuals. When the Queen goes hunting in cyberspace to shut the place down, she drags Voyager's crew into the fray. "

Interesting ...

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Voyager is not dragged in by the Borg Queen, but is there of their onw free will. Janeway's, Tuvok's, and Torres' assimilation is intentional on their part as a way to gain access to a secured area of a cube.

I am SO sick of that catchphrase "The Borg are Back". How long have they been using that? Ten freakin' years!?

Janeway just looks WRONG without hair. I think she's more messed up than Picard was though. Picard was already hairless.

Kim was right about not finding a box with a half pip on his chair. He's been an ensign for 6 years!! I'm glad Paris got his rank back and all, but if I were Kim I'd grab a phaser rifle and go postal.

Harry's smart enough not to go grab a phaser and start shooting. He'll lose that one pip he's got and then he'll have nothing.

I take back everything I ever said about Voyager not ruining the Borg. The queen acting like she was written by Lewis Carroll..."Off with their heads! Off with their heads!". I was surprised they didn't play space croquet. Bleah.

Boy, I just watched that episode and it kinda sucked.
What just busts my button is that they LET themselves be assimilated! What the hell was that all about?! Being assimilated is supposed to be worse than death! Voyager doesn't even know if they will get to see them again!
That was just stupid, then again, maybe the season premiere will answer some questions.

While I'm still definately on the negative side when it comes to this episode, after watching it again I did have to remind myself that it was only the first part. So maybe I'll be pleasently surprised with the second.

The Borg minds are all connected. In effect, they are one mind. When one of them is in an alcove, they're hooked straight to the ship. That makes them even more connected to the rest. How can the other Borg not know that one of their fellows is off in this dreamland?!

Now assimilation isn't so unnerving. You just go and get assimilated, freinds rescue you, pop in some nanties and you're home free. The Borg have definetely lost their imposing side to me.

Posted by Mikey T (Member # 144) on :

I would think that Starfleet would eventually adapt to the Borg. In Voyager's case, the crew has a former drone with enough knowledge to counteract a lot of the Borg tactics and technology. But if the writers at Voyager want to return to grace, they'll make the Borg adapt to Seven of Nine.
