No, I've got nothing to say. I'm just sick of seeing "What type of ship is Voyager" listed at the top of the Voyager forum every time I log on. Mods, feel free to lock this one down. [Smile]

But, what type of ship IS Voyager?

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Duh, it's a SPACE ship.

Starship.

Gods, now my name is going to show up as the responsible party for the last post here for another few weeks straight...

Oh no! Another nonsense thread!

What? Where?

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Here. There. Everywhere.

Okay, fine. STARship. But it *is* a ship in space, no?

Mark

It's a stardrive vessel (class VII), Naval Commercial Earth Ship Voyager, 746th Federation design, 56th vessel. Most of its crew are part of the Space Service, and are now serving the United Earth Space Probe Agency. The ship is capable of time-warp factor 19, and is equipped with sensors, sensor scanners and deflector screens.

The time is only three hundred years into the future, and screen technology hasn't advanced beyond cathode-ray tubes. The ship has been transported to the Andromeda Galaxy and is finding its way back at Warp Factor Two, along with a crew of 500, officers, enlisted personnel and pure technicians. During battles, people die in phaser rooms and rarely crawl through conduits. There are 50-year old technicians with thick-frame glasses working the transporters.

Now that's just cruel! We ALL know about the hamster wheel...

don't forget the scanner deflectors, which are a very important feature. without them, people would often crawl through conduits instead of rarely. and you also forgot the ships science officer silicone cat suit brain from ceti alpha 9.

Don't forget Tribbles. They provide the crew with large amounts of entertainment and nourishment. They'd race Tribbles, and eat the losers, until there are only super Tribbles left onboard.

Oh Mark, see you at Anime North?

So if Mark is the Coolest Guy EVER, how come we haven't heard anything of Sector Gamma yet? Huh? Huh?

And Voyager is a light cruiser. She used to be a decaf cruiser before "The Cloud", though, which may confuse some people. But for most of the show, she was just sugar-free. (Cheese-free is a different matter altogether.)

You have all got it completely wrong.

Voyager was a ship of dreams.

Voyager was a ship of crack smoking writers.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that this forum's terms of execution ought to be served within the next week or so *nudges Charles* as the last videos have released in the Land of Oz. Or at least I think they have.

Posted by Dukhat (Member # 341) on :

Well we should at least have the last thread be "Has anyone NOT seen Endgame yet, and for those who have, does anyone still want to talk about it?" If both questions have the answer of "no," then I think it's a safe bet to kill the Voyager forum.

Posted by Matrix (Member # 376) on :

I agree but for those who haven't seen the end of Voyager, where are they? They haven't posted in here though.

I believe that this board should be something different.

Wouldn't it be the 57th vessel, because they start counting at '00'?

I think youve got something here.. If Voyager was done TOS style, it would be fascinating.

That's pretty cool looking. I actually like it.

HAHAHA! That's awesome!

Ok, let's keep going with the Series Bible:

JANEWAY

Janeway is the first woman captain, part of the Maquis, a women's movement which seeks to improve their rights aboard Earth ships, including the right to captaincy as well as regular uniforms. This is not something the men on the ship want, which causes no lack of conflict.

In the first couple of shows, there will be a men's strike after Janeway decides that men and women would henceforth share quarters to conserve the resources of the stranded ship (as has been established in "Star Trek", only the senior officers have quarters to themselves, while most crewmen have to share). It will be resolved once Janeway allows the men to pick which woman they'll have to bunk up with as a compromise solution.

TUVOK

Tuvok is the second Vulcanite in the Service. He has an inferiority complex because his name unfortunately starts with a T as opposed to the traditional S. Because he's the only Vulcanite aboard, Tuvok chooses to socialize with Janeway most of the time, likewise an outcast. They engage in long talks and meditations to cover their underlying depression and weakness.

Vulcanian, rather.

That's what they'll call him next week.

Does he speak Vulcanese, Vulcanish, or Vulcanch?

Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :

Just Vulc.

TOS-style Intrepid class... I like. Those larger nacelles make the design look a lot better IMO.

Funny. He doesn't look Vulcanish.

Well, I'm SORRY if I didn't look too far to find out that voyager was an intrepid class ship, plus, I was too lazy to turn "type" into "class"

^^^^^^^^^

Don't worry about it. For years I called the Excelsior Class 'That ol piece of junk'. Then 2 years after it came out I saw it and then the nice Miranda class became that old piece of junk.
(Hey! I finally learned how type without looking at the keyboard!)
