hey guys. my friend who i introduced star trek to is so obsessed with picard he claims that he was the best captain ever and did more than kirk or anyone else ever did. the problem with him is hes never seen any TOS episodes or any of the first 6 movies. i tell him he can't even make a statement like that w/o even ever seeing TOS and he always rebuts with "hey, the romulans never tried to clone kirk" and other stupid sayings. i personally liked picard better than kirk, but i know the history and i know kirk is the master, escaped death more than anyone, saved earth more, and is the best captain ever. also pretend we lived in the star trek universe........does history look upon kirk as the greatest captain ever or do people revere picard more? thanks for your help.

Sorry, I appear to have fallen asleep and woken up in 1991.

So... When did Flare revert to inane babble? Aside from the Flameboard, I mean. [Razz]

PS: Next time, try using the "shift" key. It'll do wonders for your image here.

The Enterprise-D looks like a fat goose.

Come to my BBS!

I am going to play Syndicate.

A THIRD Star Trek series? You have to be kidding! They're already out of ideas on the second one.

I love Corey Feldman.

Pearl Jam will never die!

Hello, I was wondering if you all could help settle a dispute I'm having with some bloke I've never actually met. He says that a Star Destoyer would completely destroy the Enterprise-B. . .

Enterprise-D, Lee. By this point in time, the Enterprise-B hadn't even been invented or anything.

The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

Though this is Stereotypical Topic #2.

But unlike "Would the Enterprise beat a Star Destroyer?", this was only a stereotypical thread about 8 years ago.

I mean, seriously, Kirk vs Picard? What's next? "Hey, does anyone think that Patrick Stewart should be Professor Xavier if they ever make an X-Men movie? THEY ARE BOTH BALD!"

It's so catty in here I'm wondering if I stumbled into a litterbox instead of Flare!

As to the initial post: You can't settle subjective differentiations like "best", unless there are rigidly defined criteria for what makes a best anything. It's all opinions and assholes (as they say).

thanks for the great help guys. i knew everyone here would be kind of enough to help me prove a point. this isnt some huge poll where everybody needs to get into an argument. i already know kirk is the greatest captain. i just wanted my friend to hear it from the most knowledgeable trekkers i know. unfortunately i guess you guys are too rude to help me out.

Torga: Sorry to hear that. I wish our people here were more tolerant than the responses I just saw.

Seeing that this thread has no more purpose other than newbie flaming, I'm closing this thread.
