I have a question that has been bugging me now for several weeks. Are there any tracks out there of the baseline bridge sound to any of the ships other than the Enteprise-B as on the soundscore to Star Trek: Generations? I'm kind of looking for any as it makes fantastic ambient sound for when I do work.

I believe there is a cd out there of sound effects from the original series. It may include the background ship hum.

I'm pretty sure that the original series bridge sound effect is in the public domain. It turns up on enough TV shows, at any rate.

I realize the show required some suspension of disbelief. Warp drive, all aliens looks like humans with different-colored make-up, etc. But, really, how are we supposed to believe that anyone could work for hours at a time on a bridge with that incessant whirring/beeping/pinging going on, and not go completely insane?

Well, it was the '60s...

I'm working in an open air office right now with the constant chatter of people and the relentless hum of the air conditioning system whirring in the background, and I've yet to lose my mind. Though, it's been due for some time now, but not from background noise.

Actually, I should have specified more. I meant if anyone knew of post-TOS bridge background sound. I knew of the original bridge sounds out there.

Thanks everyone for responding!

Speaking noise though is completely different. There's variety, pauses, changes. That bridge SFX just repeats, and repeats, and repeats, for all time.

Well there is the E-D bridge at the end of the Generations soundtrack... although that does have the noise of a turbolift door opening, and then the sound pans around so you are then looking forward and then 'bam' the ship begins crashing. So you might want to cut the effect early.

Or alternately you could just get out more. . .

Where is the fun in that?

In the getting out.

Is there a TOS bridge humming and whirring sound loop available online?

BTW, what happened to http://www.stinsv.com? It seems to be down?

STinSV has been down for several months and they had not even updated for a longer period of time. I think they took it down completely because of like of time, money, and interest.

David: There is a CD of what you're describing called 'Starship Ambience - The Bridge'. The website is...

http://www.starshipambience.com

Hope that helps.
