By any chance, does anyone know what the names of the main officers (I.e.department heads) of the USS Lexington, either from rpg's or novels, or anyother source? All I know of is Commodore Robert Wesley. I'm gamemastering a FASA star trek rpg that involves the Lexington and any help would be welcome

Lexington crew from the novel "The Disinherited" by Peter David, Michael Jan Friedman, and Robert Greenberg.

Commodore Robert Wesley (CO)
Cmdr. Wynn Samuels (XO)
Dr. Peder Cross (CMO)
Lt. Jerome Baila (Communications Officer)
Ling (Junior Comm Officer)
Berriman (Helmswoman)
Ito (Navigator)

...And this is valid for the approximate era of 2nd-season TOS: Chekov is already a full-time navigator but new to the job, and poor Angela Martine is a widow and holding the job of the late Tomlinson. There are no signs of the TAS crew yet.

Well I suppose, technically, you could include one Lt. Watley....

Timo,

What question did you read?

I think he's referring to the time period of the novel that was mentioned.

Robert Tomlinson and Angelina Martine were part of the phaser crew (and not-quite-married couple) from "Balance of Terror". How do they figure into this (slightly confusing) discussion?

Lt. Dierdre Watley transferred from the Lexington to the Enterprise shortly before "The Trouble with Tribbles"/"Trials and Tribble-ations", and the Lexington was of course commanded by Commodore Robert Wesley. Other than that, no canon crewmembers.

Wow,

Thanks for the info guys, that helps a lot. Especially you, Spike. I forgot the name of the novel that mentioned them, so thanks again. About Cmdr Samuels, was he also the CSO (chief science officer), and is there any mention of an engineer?

I'm curious on your source of her first name. [Confused]

Probably from the script.

Actually, that's the actress's first name.

Cute...

Yup, I was just ranting about the time frame. If the idea is to write something that takes place in the TOS era, it might be good to know the exact year for which the crew roster is valid. For example, we know that Wesley will retire soon afterwards, and become the governor of that ill-fated planet in TAS "One of Our Planets is Missing" - so a story or RPG scenario using the above crew might deal with the impending retirement. OTOH, if the story is to take place before TOS S2, then some of that crew might not yet be there (the novel says Wesley is in the habit of "stealing" good crew from other ships, so there might be quite a bit of change aboard the Lexington). And if it takes place after TOS S2, some of this crew might be mentioned as having recently departed/died.

The setting for this introductory game is 2265. Commodore Wesley has been in command of the Lexington for about a year. He replaced Captain Mark Rousseau who retired in 2264. The beginning of the scenario is when the Lexington is finishing an overhaul/upgrade similar to what the Enterprise was conjectured to have undergone between the episodes of "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and the "Corbomite Maneuver" as is seen in the difference between the sets and uniforms. The players are part of the crew who are replacing crew members who are transferring off the ship
