This is my favorite scene ever in all of Trek. What are everyone else's choices?

Posted by Mikey T (Member # 144) on :

I like when the Enterprise-D discovered Wolf 359 after Locutus came by.

Posted by B.J. (Member # 858) on :

I agree - "Stealing the Enterprise" is definitely up there on my list. It's about the only time Scotty actually had Kirk worried! The only thing retracting from that whole scene was Chekov's ridiculous 19th century English school-boy outfit.

So many...so I'll name three.

Cliff hanger ending of BOBW

DS9 opens fire on the Klingon fleet in TWOTW

Spock's funeral

Posted by Johnny (Member # 878) on :

The destruction of the Enterprise (1701).. always fun to shout with Kruge!

The bit in WotW where Quark is telling Odo about his gun which it turns out Rom has used for replicator parts... just hilarious dialogue.

The observation room scene in FC.

Most of TWoK really.. particularly "Khaaann!" and the battles.

When the Defiant opened up on the Jem'Haddar for the first time in "The Search, Part I". After the pasting the Odyssey received by the same number of ships in the previous episode (not to mention the multiple destructions of the Enterprise-D in the "All Good Things" finale), the way the Defiant handled things was really inspiring.

I think I'll have to break it into categories....

- Most dramatic cliffhanger: Dukat finds Sisko's baseball. "He's letting me know... he'll be back." And then there were a freakin' thousand ships coming to kick Dominion ass!

- Most emotional scene: Definitely Spock's death/funeral. "Of all the souls I have met in my travels, his was the most... human."

- Funniest moment: Tie!
-- Jake and Nog discover what Dr. Geiger is up to. "And you, the unwary victim of cellular ennui, are quite literally... bored to death."
-- The Doctor singing opera in his daydream. "Tuvok, I understand / You are a Vulcan man / You have just gone without / For seven years -- about."

I *LOVE* The music in "Stealing the Enterprise".

I LOVE it on the soundtrack. Some of the best soundtrack music EVER! [Smile]

A-hem.

Where are the crewmen who are supposed to be manning the space-door controls!?! I always assumed there was just no-one there at the time - but is it possible that the Enterprise Crew... did something - locked them out I mean or something! [Smile] Anything for that in the original script!?!

Posted by B.J. (Member # 858) on :

Uhura was probably hacking their controls from the inside.

(And that music is even better if you get to *play* it!)

Posted by WizArtist II (Member # 1425) on :

Perhaps that was the NEXT thing that Uhura did before taking off for Vulcan.

And I agree with your sentiments on the score. The music for this scene is absolutely perfect for what is happening on screen. Amazing chemistry.

*CRIES* PLAY IT!?!

You mean as in an orchestral type setting. That would be TOTALLY awesome. What instrument do you play?

Posted by B.J. (Member # 858) on :

I play percussion (except for the keyboard-type stuff like the xylophone). Been playing since about 1987 through school (middle school, high school & college) and with various community bands.

Posted by HopefulNebula (Member # 1933) on :

-DS9 "The Begotten" - Odo finally morphing again
-ENT "Demons" and "Terra Prime" - Trip, T'Pol and baby Elizabeth
-TWoK: Spock's death and funeral.
-I have to agree with MinutiaeMan on the opera scene.
-TNG "The Measure of a Man" - Both closing arguments

What do you think of Kirk's jacket in the stealing the Enterprise scene? Very Dracula of him.

I honestly don't have a favorite scene. There are just wayyyy too many that I like, from whole scenes down to little moments, like when Dr. Taylor slams into the side of the cloaked BoP in ST:IV, or the scene in FC when Picard and Lily are on the holodeck. I also liked that sequence in that Voyager episode "Death Wish" where Quinn was hiding the Voyager in all sorts of places, like the Big Bang and as a Christmas tree ornament. I wished that scene was longer. [Razz]

Doctor McCoy, what is your current medical status?

BONES
Aside from a touch of arthritis, I'd say pretty good.

Made perfect by the single Klingon in the courtroom who enjoys the joke.

I don't know, it makes the whole movie for me.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

A Klingon laughed - I always took that to be dead silence from EVERYONE except McCoy who was laughing at his own joke.

Is it possible all of you are forgetting about this one?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GocYPq0h1EM

(okay, it's technically three scenes, but you'll get my point)

I love that entire episode.

EDIT: I've always been partial to this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmX8GYg0Ml4

Unfortunately the only one on YouTube I could find and its in Italian.

Andrew: I'm quite sure that was supposed to be a Klingon laughing, because it had a longer echo than McCoy's voice. Plus, we saw McCoy looking up at the gallery/audience for a reaction...

Ohhhh - I was SO worried it was going to be the 'it's a fake bit' - when I first ever watched that episode - that one line hit me so hard. It's SCARY! Great work though!

"IT's a FAAAAKKKKKKEEE!"

Posted by MinutiaeMan (Member # 444) on :

Jeez, I can't believe I forgot about that scene, from my favorite DS9 ever!

I agree, that line was so scary when I saw it the first time, because everyone figured that the Romulans were going to end up joining the bad guys. But instead, Garak had one final surprise...

My favorite scene:
SISKO: "It's no illusion."
(just before the station opens the ultimate can of whoop-ass on the klingons)

Another favorite is (super-asshole) Keevan being used as a remote-controlled zombie ala Spock's Brain.

Posted by Daniel Butler (Member # 1689) on :

From the "its a FAAAAAAKE" episode, I thought another scene was better - Sisko confronting Garak after the Romulans' shuttle was destroyed.

However, I thought he made too big of a deal out of it. He wasn't an accomplice to murder; he didn't know what Garak was going to do. But I still got chills with his "I can live with it" line. And "Computer, erase that entire personal log." Nice touch.

Actually, Daniel, those are the two scenes included in the video I linked here. And those are the scenes I wanted to remark...

Posted by WizArtist II (Member # 1425) on :

My favorite DS9 scene was probably when Sisko decked Q.

Q:"You HIT me? Picard never hit me."
Sisko: "I'm NOT Picard."

Posted by Daniel Butler (Member # 1689) on :

Doctor: I haven't seen the link yet; my sound's dead so I thought what's the point? Sorry for being redundant though.

Posted by Omega (Member # 91) on :

Q appearing as human on the bridge of the Enterprise.

"I am human! What must I do to convince you?" "Die." "Oh, very funny Worf. Eat any good books lately?"

And Q claiming to be God.

"Q, you are not God! The universe is not so badly designed!" "Blasphemy! You're lucky I don't cast you out, or smite you, or something."

Posted by HopefulNebula (Member # 1933) on :

Speaking of Q:

VOY "Q2" - "If the Contiuum's told you once, they've told you a thousand times. DON'T PROVOKE THE BORG!!!"

It's DeLancie the elder's bugging-out eyes that really does it for me.

Also, I agree with just about all of ItPM. I could have sworn it got mentioned before, though...

(Sorry for the double-post; I can't edit my above post anymore and just thought of this.)

DS9 "You Are Cordially Invited...":

Bashir: "Miles... it's working. I've had a vision, about the future. I can see it so clearly."
O'Brien: "What is it?"
Bashir: "I'm gonna kill Worf. I'm gonna kill Worf. That's what I'm gonna do. I can see it clearly now, I'm going to kill... him..."
O'Brien: "Kill Worf."
Bashir: "Kill Worf."
Both: "Kill Worf... Kill Worf."

Heh. That was a bachelor party they won't soon forget!

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

DS9 always had the best off-the-wall humour. How about when Quark and Rom are discussing their kidnapped Moogie and unwittingly enter Sisko's office via the Jeffries tube? Sisko, in the franchise's best example of nonchalance, looks emotionless at the two on the floor and asks "Can I help you gentlemen?". They quickly bugger off, and Sisko nonchalantly turns around as if nothing has happened. That one always had me floored. [Smile]

Reminds me - DS9 also has my favorite outtake ever, of that scene.

Q: "Or what? You'll ravish me? .... Ravage, I'm sorry."
Sisko: "So'm I..."

Is this the scene you were thinking of? I couldn't find a video of the whole thing, just these 20 seconds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4GpWd7sZXw

"You'd shoot a man in the back?"

"Well, it's the safest way, isn't it?"

Posted by MinutiaeMan (Member # 444) on :

My favorite Garak moment was Bashir telling him the story of the boy who cried wolf. Garak's moral for the story is classic: "You should never tell the same lie twice."

Sisko: I might. [Smile]

Garak always did get the choice stuff. "Our Man Bashir" was chock full of it.

"You SHOT me!"
"Let me look. ....It's onlyt a flesh wound, superficial."
"You really shot me. I suppose I should be thankful you weren't trying to kill me."
"What makes you think I wasn't?"
"Doctor...there may be hope for you yet."

Mark: Hell that makes it even funnier, thanks! [Razz]

DS9 "The Muse" - Odo & Lwaxana playing hide & seek. I love seeing Odo playful & smiling.

Posted by HopefulNebula (Member # 1933) on :

Gah, I just keep coming up with these.

TNG "Sarek" - Picard's handling of Sarek's rampant emotions. It just makes me all wibbly.

TOS Amok Time - When Kirk pops up behind Spock.."Captain? JIM!! *recomposes*"
