Pretty damn starnge.
No more Crewman Cutler.

I liked her: she was a good character and added to the show.
Cute too.

Damn, to be taken so early...

What episodes was she in? What did she do in those episodes?
Please help me, because I have no idea who Crewman Cutler is...

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Er, it says in the article what eps she appeared in?

Crap.

That's a major continuity error [Frown]

Condolences to her family and friends.

That's terrible. Poo on young people dying. Actually I had no idea she was over 30. Ikes!

Posted by Krenim (Member # 22) on :

I found Cutler to be one of the more interesting recurring characters on Enterprise. A pity the actress had to die so young... [Frown]

Does anyone know what happened?

Maybe we should send a card....how would we send a card?

Posted by Spike (Member # 322) on :

No, not really but it reminds me of Glenn Quinn's death. He also died young and the public wasn't informed about the cause of death at first. Later it was revealed that he died from a drug overdose.

Posted by Fleet-Admiral Michael T. Colorge (Member # 144) on :

I actually liked her recurring character... she seemed to have a more solid character footing than Travis.

I hope that her character isn't just forgotten though.

That is heart-breaking. Hate to see crap like that!!

I feel for her family and colleagues !

Posted by Styrofoaman (Member # 706) on :

Sad. Very sad. Hopefully they work it into the story somehow. "Hey what happened to Crewman Cutler? Oh no!" or somthing.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Next time the ship's attacked, she should be one of the casualties. Give the girl a "died in the line of duty" write-off.

Posted by Wraith (Member # 779) on :

I agree completely.

[Frown]

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

If she hasn't been seen or mentioned in season 3, they'll probably just leave the character out completely and claim she stayed on Earth, or something.

Posted by J (Member # 608) on :

I'd actaully like to have it be that Phlox is walking down a cooridor and we hear her voice [dubbed from a previous ep?] and then an explosion--- would bring a conclusion to the storyline that was between them and open up more char dev for Phlox.

That or something more than just she was killed in the last attack, seems a cop out.

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

This seems sad, she died for real and we are discussing how TPTB will kill off her character....

It could *get* pathetic. But right now I think people just want to give her a fitting end. None of us knew the actress, but we all knew the character.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Have her character continue - a la Dr. Selar.

Posted by Ritten (Member # 417) on :

Do like the soaps and just get a new person to replace her. Although not BSG style...

Creepy.

"Creepy" would be to use her corpse to have a on-screen farewell with Phlox.
Complete with french kiss goodbye.

What? Too soon?

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Well, more "boring" and "faux-risque," actually.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Yeah...."creepy" would be to CGI her and speed up her movements to hide the fakeness of it like Lucas did Yoda.

LOL Jason... what... Crewman Cutler as Sonic the Hedgehog!?! [Smile]

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

You laugh now but we'll see likeness copyrights for actor's faces within our lifetimes.

All you TOS fans want to see all new episodes?
It'll be possible.
Wanna see Indiana Jones part 15, the one where he conquors Mars?
It'll happen.

Bored now. Actually, bored when it was first mentioned, and now rapidly approaching coma-status.

Also, this thread is weird and disturbing. Stop it now.

Kellie Waymire's death is being called a "undiagnosed medical condition".
In other words, Not Drugs.

So she died at the drop of a hat? Shit that's almost as scary as dying from a plane crash.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Same as John Ritter: you could feel fine and live your whole life without knowing you've got a bad heart valve or some critical artery in your brain is about to clog....

Fucked up I know, but it happens all the time.
At least you'd know something was wrong in the plane just before it crashed: with some deaths it's like a switch was just flipped to "off".

Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Better to get it over with in a flash than to live the last minutes of your life in agony knowing you won't survive, I think...

What? Too soon?

Too soon? Totally inappropriate me thinks - have some f***ing respect! [Mad] The poor woman is dead and her family grieving! [Mad] Yes you loved this woman as an actress and yes she will be greatly missed - but good God, to say such a thing as this is appalling!

I'm sorry, was that meant to be amusing? 'Fraid not, in fact it's down right vulgar.

Both of you should be ashamed of yourselves. This poor woman is dead and all you can do is make fun of her to gain some personal amusement. Such shameful, disgusting and offensive behaviour and lack of respect should not be allow nor encouraged. It is appalling. You have made me sick and ashamed to be associated with you for having said such things.

I will make no apology if I have upset anyone by my words - I am grievously upset by what has been said. It's appalling, absolutely appalling! I was obviously wrong when I thought that no one here would stoop so low.

You don't want to go down that route Spike, you really don't. Not now and certainly not after what has been said.

I could have continued to use foul language as the ***'d word at the top of my post, but it's not necessary and I wouldn't lower myself. I was just making a point - to hell with the words used: focus on the content and meaning of the message.

FYI - my first name isn't Sheridan, it's Alexander. [Razz]

What? Sorry, but I'm really having trouble trying to figure out what *** could possibly mean. Never mind that we're getting in to the whole issue of self-censoring of swear words, which is as retarded as saying "heck" or "gosh". If you're going to swear, swear, but, honestly, what is the point of coving up some of the letters with asterixes? Does it stop us from burning in the fiery pits of hell?

And, to go back to the original argument, I think you'll find that Tim was actually agreeing with you that the thread has been at least a little creepy, and at most, fairly sick. Sarcasm. Wonderful tool. Jason was just trying to make a fairly average "shock joke", and it would have been better to ignore it's obviousness than to bring attention to it.

Wow. Thank the Gods we have you (AKB1979) here as our moral compass, Ms. Poppins!

Just change your screen name to Jimini Cricket and sing us a Disney song why dont you?

If I suddenly croak, I give you all permission to make pornographic jokes at my corpse's expense...
except you, Jimmini.
You can berate anyone that jokes with your "moral superiority".

It's just a joke, so lighten up.

I cant imagine there is no distinct cause of death: the ME just doesnt scratch his head and sign a death certificate without one.
"An undetermined medical condition" could mean anything at all.
I hope it was'nt drugs or something along those lines: it's got to be tough enough on her family without that.

On an unrelated side note: I wonder what the percentage of lines is between CUtler and mayweather? I bet Cutler has had about 30% as many lines as Mayweather. [Wink]

Well, I acknowledged it silenty, if that helps.

And akb****, while you're riding that high horse of yours, could you maybe spare a thought or two for the thousands of people who die of, say, AIDS each day but DON'T make the nine 'o clock news anymore? Really, there are graver injustices in this world to direct your energy towards.

Nah. Myself I think of it as a magnifying glass which enables the user to show the listener the forest despite the trees.

I'm sure no disrespect was intended - and many of us also utilize sarcasm as a defense mechanism.

I've seen something like that used before. The guy killed himself with his perscriptions. The coronor couldn't say he overdosed on purpose, so his death was listed as undetermined.

Do you think that I don't know that? I do, but thanks for reminding me.

And who said anything about riding a high horse? I'm not on a high horse at all (I don't even ride horses). I was just making a point that I took offense at what had been said and pointed out that others might too. If I appear to be on a high horse, that's you interpretation, not mine.

And where are our moderators? Why aren't they dealing with this as they should be?

OK . . . I've run out of steam now so I have only this to say . . . we've all got different views on this and what has been said. I've said my piece and you've said yours, let's call it even and quit for we don't want to draw this out any longer than it has. Do we? I am sorry if I appeared to be on a high horse (it was not my intention) and if I have offended anyone here - I just feel very strongly about this topic and feel that some of the things said were inappropriate under the circumstances. We've banged heads on this occasion and hopefully we've all learnt something from it. If not . . . I guess it will be our destiny to bang heads on some other topic. [Big Grin] Until then! A link with any further official update as to the cause of her sad demise maybe?

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

It's a closed topic for Waymire. A website for condolences and no stated cause of death.
Personally, I hope Enterprise gives her a text memorial at an episode's start and leaves it at that.
I wonder if anything is being done in memorial for Mr. Kamen?
I've heard nothing after the initial announcment.
You'd think the Academy would honor him with a star or an oscar or some damn thing.
The man scored a lot of blockbuster movies.
Thr Reaper's been pretty busy in holywood this year.

Posted by Balaam Xumucane (Member # 419) on :

I have a topical idea. It's become obvious the Waymire clan isn't interested in divulging the true medical cause of death. And I think that's entirely their right. If they don't want us to know then perhaps it's their place to prevent us from knowing.

Which is to say I'm still terribly curious why a 35 year-old beauty, still in her prime would suddenly die, but I think I'm willing to forego that curiosity. But I'll admit that there's a certain logic to the idea that once someone becomes a celebrity, to some extent they forfeit their privacy. Maybe not in this case (she isn't really front page of People), but there are plenty of others. Thoughts?

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Priivacy is fine but if CNN or NPR is running a story on the person's death, we expect to be told why.
"Why" is usually the first thing we think of when we hear of someone dying in their prime and unfortunatly we often think the worst (I immeadeately thought "drugs" but who really knows).
It's odd the we can accept "heart attack" so easily but undisclosed circumstances piques our attention.

Crewman Cutler is in the Expanse... I was watching Rajiin tonight and Phlox mentioned she broke her arm due to an anomaly.

I hope they keep her alive. Occassionally mentioning her.

Hey, the theatre she performed at is just down the street from me (it's on 24th St, I'm on 31st)! I've seen a school play there. It looks like a dingy little place from the outside and I thought they just did university stuff there.

2003 continues to reap its grim (and distinguished) harvest with the death from heart attack of the British actor David Hemmings. Once the 'enfant terrible' of British film was described by Russell Crowe as one of the "four horsemen of the appocalypse". Like two of those four (Oliver Reed and Richard Harris - Derek Jacobi is still, thankfully, with us) not only did he drink Mr Crowe under the table, he has now sadly passed away.

His sci-fi genre contributions include Barbarella (as Duran Duran), Thirst, Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde (1981), Airwolf, Equilibrium and, most recently, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
