Not for twisted medical experiments, of course. But for research purposes. Specifically, if any kind soul has the Voyager episode "Scorpion" on tape, I'd like to know the stated yield for the big Borg explosive device.

Also, if you have too much time on your hands, your size estimates for various Borg ships would be appreciated.

Which big explosive device? The one they proposed for the naonprobes? *checks script* A "multikinetic neutronic mine" has a 5 million isoton yield which could affect an entire star system and dispurse nanonprobes over a radius of five light-years.

And the Borg Cubes are 27 cubic kilometres, as per "Dark Frontier".

what does that equal out to per edge? 3km?

The cube root of 27 is, indeed, 3.

Oh, and, Sol, wouldn't your request actually require people's ears, not eyes? :-)

Eyes...er...ears...uh, yes. I need sense organs. Better?

Five lightyears? Holy crap! I thought it could disperse them over a solar system...

Still, I wonder what that means, though. Assuming the explosion propels them at near lightspeed, that would still take more than five years. Plenty of time for an FTL enemy to evade. Hmm.

Well, thankfully, they never used it.

And TSN, he did in fact use my eyes as I read it from the scriptbook. Nobody used ears, except for the 27km cubed figure.

Or perhaps it was 28. Not a big difference per side, anyway...

According to the Star Trek Ships Expanded list, the cube the amazing Magnus encountered measured 28 cubic kilometers. Is that the episode you're getting your number from, Elim?

But I'm sure the cube seen in "Q Who" was bigger still, no?

Does "high yield" warhead only mean it has a big blast radius or could it also mean a long duration of the explosion, the expansion of shockwaves? Good topic btw

Posted by Elim Garak (Member # 14) on :

Yup, that's the one.

Well, that "multikinetic neutronic mine" would've been a doozy!

In 'Dark Frontier' Seven's mother said the Borg cube was 28 cubic km. It's actually the latest Voyager episode I've got/seen.

WELL THANKS FOR SHARING, DAX!!!!!!
I'm gonna buy Dark Frontier tomorrow! ;(

That 1 extra might be parts sticking out.

BTW: Seems like the Borg in 'Descent' were flying a mine....

I address the issue of the "Descent" ship on my upcoming page, actually.

The mine was probably not going to be used to catch the bio ships with the nanites, but to make it so that they could not enter an area due to the nanites being there.
Sort of like a giant mine field filled with lots and lots of very dangerous nanites.

If you need it I can build it. Just as long as there is a box of junk for me to use.

Ok, request number two. Could one or more kind and, dare I say it, intrepid souls find for me the stardates of the following Voyager episodes: Scorpion (parts I and II), One, Dark Frontier, et al? Essentially, stardates from all Voyager episodes dealing with the Borg? Thanks much.

Hi the ship in Descent, how big and powerful is it compared to the borg cube. Also the Queen's new ship, was it ever given a name or ship class because if not im going to list it as "diamond".

Thanks

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

The ship is much smaller than a cube, though it's still bigger than the Enterprise. As far as power goes, it isn't that easy to compare Borg vessels. Each one has a rather vast storehouse of stuff to use against you. In terms of raw power available, I would guess the cube has the advantage, only because it has room for more and larger reactors.

Borg ships don't have names, so feel free to call the ship whatever you like. Some people call it a diamond, some call it the queen's yacht. As for me, I'm working on a classification system based on chronological appearence.

I think Borg Tetrahedron sounds good. No doubt it's not a tetrahedron, but what the heck.

How about: Queen's Yacht?

In the scene where the 'Yacht' goes after the Delta Flyer you can see that the 'Yacht' is about 1/3 as high as a Cube, that's 1 km, I believe.

BTW: What I meant with the ship from 'Descent' is that the schematic of the mine in 'Scorpion' is the same as that ship.

Why would you want the stardate for "One"? Do you mean "Drone"?

Thanks.

Since were talking about the Queen's "yacht", lets talk about the Queen since her ship was destroyed I assume she was killed and the Borg have since then made another Queen. Right? Also the cheap Voyager people had to use the Descent shape as an Mine. They must think we wouldnt have recognized it! They should of just made a circle or something. Oh and the ship wasnt a mine. Do you think that ship was Lore's design or a borg design?

Posted by Elim Garak (Member # 14) on :

Well, it's possible that it was a Borg-designed ship that didn't go into production, so to speak, when the project failed with that collective of Drones.

And, ahh, I didn't notice it was the "Descent" ship, but then again, ships aren't my forte.

It was never revealed where that ship originated from. Those Borg in "Descent" had nothing to do with the proper collective. Remember, they all were individuals. I suppose it may have always been their ship. Oh, I don't know...
