Constitution, Constitution variant, Galaxy, Norway and ... what? It's not a Miranda. Not an Excelsior. But what is it?

Furthermore, did anyone try to extrapolate the Norway's size with this image?

That be the E-B Excelsior variant. This is a cap fromt he wall on VOY "In the Flesh".

Yeah, that looks like the Enterprise-B. You can tell because of the impulse engines attached to the rear of the saucer.

I remember being really confused by that wall display when I saw it on TV. It had many of the various Starships Enterprise... and the once-off Norway Class. How's that for going from the ridiculously famous to the completely obscure?

Maybe Species 8472 goofed and thought the Enterprise-C was a Norway class ship [Wink]

It's probably because the Ambassador model was destroyed and they didn't want to build a new one even though there is probably a model kit out there that could be put together by the art department in less time than the norway model was....

Only problem w/ that theory is that, while the Amb. model is broken, the Nor. model was deleted. So the Nor. would definitely be harder to work with. :-)

And those aren't even models, are they? If I'm remembering the episode right, they were just raised outlines.

Yeah, it was just like a silvery-display on the wall. I'm guessing the outlines were just taken from the Encyclopaedia and put into something like Adobe and a filter was used. Or the outlines were cut out of some sheet metal?

I'd still like to know if anyone could e-mail Doug Drexler and ask him if he has (first hand) seen the Norway model. I'm worked out that he would have HAD to have had access to it to design the Illustrator pictures for the Encyclopaedia. He could still have the file!!

I'd venture to suggest that those were also the foamcore shot-positioning "models" used in DS9 a lot, although why there'd be one of the Norway is beyond me.

I knew they weren't models. I was just joking.

And I don't think they're foamcore, either. They certainly appeared to be completely flat. I agree that they were just made using the Encyclopedia diagrams.
