That spaceship/starship size comparison page was featured in today's paper. I'll have to cut out the article and scan it in!

I presume he means this:

http://www.merzo.net/

I'm guessing he means that site with the movable scale pics of, well, pretty much everything. There was a thread about it somewhere recently...

And I wasn't going to get today's paper....

although, I doubt my local paper would have it, so it may be interesting to know which paper you are talking about too......

LOL! You might have to import it. Yes the movable ships page.

In Queensland's "Sunday Mail" on Sunday 1st of June.

I've kept the page for scanning.

Whatever you do, don't post it here.

Thread moved to Starships.

So where are the goods already??!! [Big Grin]

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Well I'm busy - and - what? I'm not to post it to these forums!?!

Posted by Futurama Guy (Member # 968) on :

no, it was more like...ship size chart was supposed to be in the 'starships and technology' segment, rather than the plain ole 'general trek'

suggesting it really exists! [Wink]

^ Spot on.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

OK. I originally posted in the General forum as it was about a website being in the paper - not actually a tech discussion - per se.

It's still about starships and should be posted here. Same thing if Bernd or MinutaeMan's sites were featured.

King Kong

I'm sooo disappointed, then. They lied to us in King Kong vs Godzilla.... [Frown]

Actually, both of their sizes are wrong, at least absolutely. He's got them both about twice as tall as they ought to be. However, their relative sizes to each other seem close enough. So, if Godzilla vs. King Kong made them the same size, then, yes, they were quite wrong.

(Actually, King Kong was intentionally shown at two different sizes in the original movie: 18 ft. and 24 ft. When I say he should be about half the size he is on that chart, it would put him just slightly under the average of the two.)

Edit: Guess who didn't notice page 2 of this thread...

What was your first clue?
Was it King Kong being able to withstand Godzillia's atomic breath or his being able to manipulate electricity?
Not a good movie.

Y'know, I thought you were a lot better at picking up on sarcasm, Jason....

I am, but that horrid movie really grates on my nerves: I hate stupid monkey movies. [Razz]

What about Congo? Or that movie with the airplane-flying monkeys?

Why are all the Drazi ships on that page backwards?

Executive Decision?

Fortunately I skipped Congo and never saw anything with monkeys flying a plane.

I even skip those awful "Planet of the Apes" movies.

But they're funny. Mocking Charlton Heston alone is worth it.

WHAT??? Awful?? I can see maybe the 2001 remake...but the '67 classic is just that... [Cool]

I've never sat through that either.
Sat 2010 though. It was okay. Sorta.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I believe he meant the "remake" of Planet of the Apes which was made in the year 2001. Not the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I saw the first Planet of the Apes on TV when I was a kid: it didint make a lot of sense then and even less now.
It sucked. Charlton Heston is pretty funny in it though: he acts real constipated throughout the whole movie.
Like this: [Mad]
See? a "Heston" smiley.

Planet of the Apes is a fine, fine film.

Wait a minute! This is Earth? And you saved it from blowing up! Bless you! Bless you all to heaven!

Even better: Get your paws on me, you sexy thing.

Sexy thing is not, perhaps, the backwards or bizarro version of "damned dirty ape," but I found it appropriate.

And Planet of the Apes gave us Oz's amusing description of college life: "It's pretty much a madhouse a madhouse." So there.
