Okay, I'm kinda low on ideas for a suitable pun this week, so I'm going with a VFX shot in the preview that involves grabbing and disintegration. [Razz]

Still, we seem to be infiltrating a Sphere this week, so we'll be getting some new insights on what the Sphere Builders are up to. Plus, hopefully Enterprise will be cleaned up a little on the INSIDE. They've obviously been going without showers or laundry for several episodes (except T'Pol for some reason) but will they fix things enough to be presentable to the Xindi Council? At the least, I do expect Enterprise to be looking pretty crappy thorugh the end of the season.

Question: Does ENT do longer air on Tuesdays, wherever it was that it used to? It never seems to be available on the Internet anymore until after the Wednesday airing.

Goddamn dumbass fucking basketball playoffs are being shown here instead of Enterprise!

I have to record it while I'm at work (it's playing on Saturday night at 8:30pm of all times) and watch it sunday morning!

I bet the episode's ratings suck, if every station that carries Basketball moves the episode to such a crappy timeslot.

I used to get Enterprise on Tuesday nights from an Edmonton channel, but that channel moved its timeslot for Enterprise. Now the earliest showing is Wednesday nights at 8 on a Halifax station.

That's because Paramount stopped sending the Canadian feeds on Tuesday afternoons and is only sending the UPN-formatted ones on Wedenesday mornings...

Here goes:

-T'pol has no more trellium in her system.
-Vulcans don't get headaches

-MACO Corp. Hawkins (I thought I heard Janus, his first name??) had 6 months of EV suit training (including EV combat training) on the Janus Loop.

-Spherebuilders a.k.a. "The Guardians" to the Xindi. The Xindi were brought up to revere them. They began to appear to the Xindi following the destruction of thier homeworld to guide them to habitable planets.

-Degra and Enterprise were intercepted and excorted by 4 other Xindi (Aquatic, Humanoid, and Arborial) vessels.

-I missed some of the specie bio's...
- Reptilian Commander Dolum had his daughters newborn son poisoned because of a minor physical defect that would have prevented him from joining the military.
-Insectoid has 67 dialects.
-When the Aquatics speak in past tense they use sonar.
-Reptilians prefer to be near the ground.

-The Xindi Council was in a complex constructed by the Avians approximately 4000 years ago. The Council was formed to prevent what happened the the Avians. (An avian skull was show)

-The Spheres are connected by a network of artifical intelligence.
-The Sphere was entered via shuttle through an exhaust vent disguised behind a 'hologram'.
-Spherebuilder pod constructed out of same material as shell of the Spheres.
-Sphere claw which seems to defend the interior grabs and kills the MACO.

-Spherebuilders pursuade the Reptilians and Insectoids to commandeer 'the weapon' project and go through with the attack. Dolum points out that there will be heavy loses on both sides and that it may precipitate a civil war.
-In turn, the Spherebuilders promise the Reptilians that they will be the dominant species of the Xindi.
-The Reptilians feign acceptance of Archers evidence and agree to postpone the launch.
-Dolum kills Degra.

-Trip decides to utilize those energy pods that Degra gave them a couple eps back.
-A section of Mess Hall is up and running again.
-Phlox has a tapeworm in him to help him lose weight.

-coil assembly was damaged on the shuttlepod.
-23 men and women have died on Enterprise, thus far. Exceeding the 20% acceptable standard military losses.
-Vulcan axiom: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few".

-22 crewmen on Reptilian Xindi scout destroyed last episode.
-Enterprise can now make, I believe it was said, Warp 3.4.

-5 insectoid ships ascending from surface excorting the 'The Weapon'.
-All available Xindi ships have been ordered to intercept.
-Very large 'ST: First Contact' reminsicent space battle ensues.
-The weakspot of 'the weapon' its primary generators located 6 meters below aft thrusters.
-Hoshi is kidnapped by the Reptilians and they and the Sphere escape through vortex...

Quite possibly the most complicated space battle shown on screen since R0TJ, and likely ever shown on TV...

Think maybe two dozen ships on screen at once, with 7 different weapons at least...

Okay, here's my points:

-- Since when to the Xindi have transporter tech? We did see them using transporters in the future timeline of "Twilight", but in the previous encounters in the present (I forget which episodes), the Reptilians always docked to board the NX-01.

-- The standard Xindi-Reptilian scout that we've been seeing has 22 crewmen aboard.

-- The Xindi homeworld was called Xindus.

-- I heard Warp 3.4 as the NX-01's current maximum speed as well.

-- Mayweather saves the day! If I was seeing the effects shots (and sounds) properly, it was the shuttlepod's phasers (ahem, phase cannons) that finally destroyed that robotic arm and saved the rest of the away team.

-- Hoshi's got a plot line, too! What is this, the Twilight Zone? How come these forgotten characters are suddenly getting attention? [Razz]

Most of the weapons are beams of different colours, though there's one species using some sort of pulse similar to what we see from MACOs rifles or aliens of the week from last week. But since there are a lot of unfamiliar ships, yeah, very confusing battle. I also think someone else besides NX was firing something that looks just like NX's photon torpedoes.

Strange though, of all the things the Reptilians could have grabbed, they took Hoshi. They probably could have just as easily stole the Ent's coolant regulator or something.

They give us the Xindi's homeworld's name: Xindus (or Xindis??) Sp.

Posted by Futurama Guy (Member # 968) on :

Was that their original or adopted homeworld?

Posted by Captain Boh (Member # 1282) on :

Perhaps they have Transporters, but are not willing to risk themselves in them yet.

Well, thats in reference to the Reptilian line "You think we didn't think of that?" They're probably going to put her to work hacking the codes for the weapon or some such.

Kronos or Qo'noS... both by the same name... I wouldn't be surprised if the pattern repeated.

"Was that their original or adopted homeworld?"

Well, it was in a reference to the Avians once "darkening the skies of Xindus", so I'm guessing it was the original homeworld. Possibly both worlds were given the same name, anyway.

Since 23 crewmembers exceeds 20%, we know there were fewer than 115 people on board to start.

I was a bit confused by what happened inside the sphere. It seemed like they had just started to disconnect the memory core when those robot arms attacked, and they ran away. Yet, later, in the shuttle, T'Pol is going over the data they got. Are we supposed to assume the shuttle finished off the arms, and they went back and finished retrieving the core?

"MACO Corp. Hawkins (I thought I heard Janus, his first name??)..."

No, Reed was referring to that "Janus Loop". He said, "The Janus. That includes EV combat training?".

One other thing: I realize the Xindi arc is supposed to have a certain resemblance to current US events, but didn't Dolum's "you're either with us, or you're against us" line seem a bit much?

Doh...I even had it in the same sentence...what the hell was I thinking? Thats what I get for typing this while I watched it... [Roll Eyes]

Okay so here is what I dont get:
The planet that 'the council' is located at isn't their original homeworld...their original homeworld was destroyed a number of decades ago. How is it then that their *new* homeworld, and the chambers that the council is built on that is accessed only via flying was built by the Avians 4000 years ago? Have the Xindi had space travelling capabilities for that long??

Posted by TheWoozle (Member # 929) on :

The council planet isn't their new homeworld.. they're looking for one.

This gives a hint that can go one of two directions. Either, the Avians had space travel for 4000 years and this was their colony, or they came from this planet and where not native to Xinthis.. which makes you wonder about the other Xindi species...

Posted by Futurama Guy (Member # 968) on :

Okay...so make *new* homeworld --->>> *temporary* homeworld/HQ. Nevertheless the question remains.

Posted by MinutiaeMan (Member # 444) on :

I would assume that since the Avians built the structure 4000 years ago, that the Xindi have indeed had space travel for that long.

Of course, if the Avians had been building structures like that, off world, then one must wonder why the frell they went extinct! Wouldn't there have been at least some survivors of the race? It seems to me that there's got to be more to the story than we've been told.

Don't forget the Guardians and their time-traveling abilities. They might have either transplanted Avians into that past, or they might have purposefully erased them from the timeline (perhaps they were too difficult to control?).

- I award Teh Powerup to anyone who catched the Aquatic council member's name.

- Insectoid names get longer with age. The current council member's name is tediously long.

- The Aquatics take forever to reach a decision. The direct opposite of the Insectoids.

- The Guardians were all played by women. Their realm is depicted somewhat similar to the Prophet's and Q's realms.

- The Guardians helped the scattered Xindi to survive, and in return the Xindi worship them almost as Gods.

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

Well, my money is still on the Guardians being responsible for the destruction of the original homeworld (via time travel shenanigans), thus motivating the survivors to attack Earth. Perhaps the Avians were in on it, or they were trying to fight against it and were wiped out completely by the Guardians as a result.

Two more things:

- Porthos was in this episode!

- I have screenshots

Hmm... Good point. Though you'd think the last person you'd want on such a project would be an uncooperative alien who is still struggling with various Xindi languages and rather unfamiliar with most Xindi technology. There are probably a lot more qualified Reptillian and Insectoids around for that. Heck, they could have simply kidnapped one of the council members and tortuned them for the codes, or even a Xindi engineer who worked on the weapon release safeguards.

But then, ENT does have a tendency to not follow common sense.

Perhaps they also over estimated her use to Enterprise since she is quite useful to archer in the eppisode

Posted by Harry (Member # 265) on :

They wanted someone Archer cared for, for bargaining purposes. Apart from Degra (who was already dead at the time), they only know of Hoshi as someone who Archer likes.

They probably reasoned that a piece of technology like an EPS conduit would be too easily replacable. Or they simply don't know what's what in Earth ships.

It was curious that they knew exactly who and where Hoshi was. The only way you could identify a person uniquely is by DNA, right?

They could have somehow implanted her with something, or tagged her. Or she carried a uniquely traceable device, such as her universal translator.

is this the first time we've seen Xindi transporters??

Posted by Captain Boh (Member # 1282) on :

Open comm channels were used, so they might have known where she was on the bridge my monitering Archer's communications with the other Xindi

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

It's also possible that they'd been doing some intelligence gathering of their own. Hoshi's been used since the start of the season as the resident computer hacker, and combined with her natural liguistic skills would make her a strong candidate to figure out the codes.

"I award Teh Powerup to anyone who catched the Aquatic council member's name."

Phonetically, "Kiafetamentsur" (KYAH-feht-AH-mehnt-SOOR). I'm sure someone who taped it and has closed captioning can get a better rendering.

Since it was the reptillians [I haven't see the ep, but this is what I've gleemed from here] they could have smelled her pheremones or something else like that.

But that wouldn't have helped since they transported her off the bridge.

Smelled her through space?
