Two nice preview images included; the first one looks like the NX-Beta, and the other one is a DS9-image! Yes, you heard me, Sisko's back! I just wonder why they think that putting the Chaffee on most of their DS9-images would be cool, because I can't stand that ugly bastard.

Anyone ordered it yet? [Smile]

I've already pre-ordered it.

The Chaffee looks like the part you'd dispose if you circumsized a Runabout.

Or, to be less sophomoric, it looks unfinished and missing a rearend.

The Defiant shuttles can fly at warp now?

That NX-beta (is that what they called it? does that mean it was a prototype for the NX class - does that void the ships like the Intrepid being MX etc?) picture looks wierd - it looks like a photo of a physical model on flash - and what is with the exhaust coming out of one of the nacelles... and the little white greeblies to the bttom right of the ship? (Not including the warp streaks). Was this a screengrab of the episode? Maybe these are place-holder pictures?

Who was involved in the making of this calendar?

I think that's the biggest direct Star Trek reference you've made in months.

The NX-Alpha to NX-Delta were spacecraft that tested prototype warp engines be seeing if Warp 5 could have been achieved.

The Chaffee was always designed to go to warp.

Check it out: I like the way the U.S.S. Prometheus, NX-59560, Prometheus Class separates into three distinct warp-capable vessels when entering vector assault mode.

I used to know my shit.

Used to.

The Prometheus tosses the universe's salad.
Talk about a one trick pony: after one engagment any enemy force would know to destroy the center piece and the ship is stranded as two chunks.

Sternbach's sketches were far superior to the arrowhead we saw rendered.

I was never impressed, personally. "OMG the ship seperates!" It's what I'd expect to see in an anime version of Star Trek. That, and the Enterprise-A and Enterprise-D combining to form Ultra-Majin Enterprise. WITH THREE DRAMATIC CAMERA PASSES!

GIven Rick's old-school fandom of anime, the Prommie never surprised me in that respect. At least he ended up tonig it down - originally she was supposed to break up into FIVE sections.

An I still like 'er. Besides, I think we (and Rick) concluded that she could still link up sans the middle section.

Even the Defiant's shuttlepods can go at warp, all three we ever saw did so, the last time we saw them it was explicitly stated it was using its warp drive, in "Destiny"

I remember that. When the five parts are combined they look like a huge Mecha-saurus. But for some reason, the guys who flew them wore the old TNG-spandex uniforms and Mike Westmore's alien makeup for that episode looked like a pile of shit.

Or am I confusing some things here? [Big Grin]

It has been really sad watching UM's slide from hard core trek geekdom. Next thing you know he's going to have a life or something.

Nah, that won't be happening....
