I was watching "Identity Crisis" (TNG) and at the beginning, when the briefing on the former U.S.S. Victory crewmembers is being given, Leijten mentions that Hickman had "just passed a routine physical on the Lya IV with flying colors."
The wording (use of "the") suggests that Lya IV is the name of a starship. Admittedly, a slew of starbases in the Lya system have been mentioned in other episodes, including Lya Station Alpha from "Ensign Ro," Starbase Lya III from "The Defector" and "The Hunted," and a Station Lya IV from "The Most Toys." One would think it was the latter that was actually being referenced, but perhaps not, given the wording.
I checked the script hoping to see if the actress simply flubbed the line, but I found that the entire mention of the location of Hickman's physical is absent, suggesting it was added in a later draft. So no help there.
Personally, I think it's possible that if Lya IV was an important planet where the Federation had a presence, a starship might be named after it. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Personally, I'm cool with the "they named the ship after the planet" theory, but mildly prefer the "she flubbed her line" theory. It's so very annoying to think that all these people would really speak error-free English...
OTOH, might there not be things apart from starships that would be referred to as "the"? Perhaps the word we hear as the proper name "Lya" actually stands for a concept other than a proper name. We might for example have "Starbase (Local Yearly Agreement) 3", a facility whose ownership is annually renegotiated with the landlords of the system. Or "Starbase (Leased, Joint Authority) 3", a facility akin to DS9. There'd be sufficiently few of those that everybody would understand what Leitjen means with "the LJA 4".

The Lya IV could be the starbase. I think they even used the term "the DS9" instead of "the station DS9" once. Minor grammatical incorrectness es should be concidered our smallest problem.

Heck, Seven of Nine even flubbed a Stardate in "The Voyager Conspiracy", and the key to that show WAS the stardates and events. How did quality control miss that misread number??
