it looks to me like thats the united earth logo. .the part that would be the star is probably the major continents on a globe background, with the laurels around it

In other words, something very similar to the UN logo if not exactly the same.

Is that supposed to be a Starfleet skirt uniform that woman is wearing!?

Not sure... I looking at the boat under the bridge.. what does it say?...ss loveboat?

I replied to this page - and I can't see the post.

Anyway - I think it looks like the Delta symbol surrounded with the laurel leaves.

And look... there is Boothby! [Smile]

Looking at it, I can't really see that as being an equal five point star. It looks more like the old TOS command star to me, which would make a little more sense.
I think I also see some smaller, thinner rings on the interior, similar to the UN logo.

Perhaps it looks a little more like this?

The delta symbol wasen't use by starfleet until after the TOS 5 year mission. It could be the delta star or a early version of the star...

Remember this is the the starfleet logo for TNG,DS9,VOY and it looks alot like the one I made.

Actually looking at that black and white image and then the last of the pictures posted... I think they've just reused that design!

[Roll Eyes]
Of course I remember that logo, I drew it, at least that B&W version of it.
It wasn't a TNG logo, in fact it didn't turn up until the later seasons of DS9, season 5 or 6 I belive.

The command star isn't the old TOS delta but the little star that you can see inside it and it does indeed date back to before the 5 year mission, all the way back to "the cage".

That symbol was also seen on all command staff badges, from several ships throughout TOS so it would be plausible that the Federation Starfleet adopted Earth Starfleets old command logo as it's own Command/Ops department insignia.

An idiotic comment.

What does the "5" signify? It is visible in the upper left corner.

I remember that a colour version of that B&W logo above used to be over at startrek.com/continuum.

and I advance to the next round of the spelling bee!

See? Here we have a newbie with atrocious spelling, who thinks he knows everything, and posts large images all the time instead of links. And I haven't said a word. Yet when he storms off in a huff I'll get the blame, and I didn't do anything. But "everyone knows" I'm horrible to newbies so it must have been me. It's just not fair.

And that one with the compleat (sic) circle looks fake. What's the matter, O futile one? Can't abide the thought of the soulless agents of the New World Order still existing a century and a half from now?

Poor old Vogon, nobody loves him!

Floor 5? Section 5? Building 5?
Does it matter?

I'm sure this is the sort of detail someone at EdenFX would love to tell us about. Or, alternately, tel us abowt.

Vogon...

And here I thought you were just miserable to all of us? 8^P

As for me...I look forward to Resistance's posts, spelling aside, since frankly I graduated from any school that could give me a grade for spelling 12 years ago. I think his graphics quality allows him a little room to slide in the spelling department...

Later!

You think its ok for him to be incompetent, as long as he looks good. [Wink]

Umm, guys - before you laugh and ridicule... compleat is a real word.

quote: from dictionary.com

1 entry found for compleat.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

compleat Pronunciation Key (km-plt)
adj.
Of or characterized by a highly developed or wide-ranging skill or proficiency: The compleat speechwriter... comes to anonymity from Harvard Law (Israel Shenker).
Being an outstanding example of a kind; quintessential: Here was the compleat modern misfit: the very air appeared to poison him; his every step looked treacherous and hard won (Stephen Schiff).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Variant of complete.]

Probably not used in the correct context here, but it is, indeed a real word.

I wonder what the others who are wearing uniforms but aren't of the Enterprise crew are wearing on their shoulder patches.

What I find most interesting here is that they've made it so that San Francisco is still a naval base the 22nd century, as well as a home for Starfleet.
I don't recall any kind of naval presence in any of the 23rd and 24th Century San Francisco shots that we've seen.

Something similar to this I'd imagine.

Reverend: nice logo. What class is that?

Posted by Reverend (Member # 335) on :

uuuumm....it's Prefect-class....made by ford....at the betelgeuse ship yards....
I don't know, I just made it up [Razz]

I'd like to think there were more creative variants than that.. like on Masao's museum site

This design is what's known as an anal extraction which took a grand total of five minutes to put together. I wan't looking to re-invent the wheel.

Sounds painful.

I'm guessing that other ship's shoulder patches probably look very similar. Same colors... same use of a stylized view of the ship breaking the circle. However, I'd be open to the use of other views of the ship. In other words, some ships would be seen from the side or front... whichever angle is most distinctive.

I'm willing to bet that we'll see another Starfleet ship this season as well as her crew's uniform insignia.

Posted by O Captain Mike Captain (Member # 709) on :

nah i think there are probably a lot more fun variants, depending on the purpose of the ship and the origin of the name..

whos working in the art department these days?quite a few of those guys have been known for cool looking insignia im sure they wont pass up a chance to add some life to the designs.

We had a bare glimpse of one last season, when Hoshi is looking for dirt on Reed. She contacted some guy on another starship, and he definitely had a visibly different patch on his left arm. No real details could be extracted - but the colours were sure different.

I did my own knock-off (homage) to Enterprise with a patch for one of my ships: http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/sfmuseum/torsk.htm . However, I completed the ring to make a place for the registry.

In addition to that patch on Reed's friend, have we see any other patches for installations and commands? Any more miniskirts?
