Has anyone seen accurate schematics for Defiant? The ones I've managed to find so far are WAY out when compared to the studio model.

There are schematics of the afwul CGI version in the last Magazine.

How are the Gilso schematics? http://www.gilsostartrekschematics.co.uk/bprintlinks/fed/defiant/defiant.html

Very nice, at any rate.
Great Scott, there's a whole list of schematics there! And the images are 1280 pixels wide, just like my res! :-)

Looking at the old girl made me think of "The Valiant", where the "nose"-section breaks off under the pounding of the Dommie Battleship.

That made me think, because it broke off quite cleanly, does anyone think the creators at some point thought it could be used as a last-ditch lifeboat?
A miniature saucer separation of sorts?

I mean, it does stick out, the only thing that really separates the design from conventional fed-starships, that and the embedded nacelles.

That's what they say in the DS9 technical manual. It also features a last ditch warhead, for ramming purposes.

But his Excelsior-schematic is horrible, look at the front view. The disproportions and the misangulations...
And he labeled the weapon harpoints all wrong.

I think the proportions of the Fact Files schematics (on which Gilso's are based) are wrong. The ship should be wider, like on the small top view in the DS9TM. Also, the deflector housing should not be that much tapered, but rounded at the forward edge, and overall lower.

The schematics that came with the ERTL model made the same mistake. The nose cone is way too pointy.

Also, the nacelles should 'angle in' at the rear by 8 degrees, and the nose profile is wrong.
