I'm not sure quite what to do with this one.
I just wanted to see what a 1930's -ish bomber would look like if interpreted as a TOS design, albeit slightly more beefy than the standard sleek look.
I'm open to suggestions as to it's purpose/function/capabilities.
I gave it a really corny name, just for the fun of it!

Fighter craft. Definitely a fighter craft.

Excited about Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, are we? [Wink]

Hey... it looks kinda like one of the Crimson Skies fighter... [Smile] I dig the "speed fins" [Big Grin]

Anyway, it's your typical good work... what can I say more?

It's substantially larger than typical fighter-sized craft, but with what we've seen in Trek I think that it's size is just about right.

Personally, I would dump the Bussard collectors. With its small size I think that collected hydrogen wouldn't extend range enough to bother with collecting it.

I see the, um, phased plasma cannons [Wink] , so all this baby needs is some rockets.

Oh, and some fancy paint job too. [Smile]

Paint it yellow with chrome trim and seat an Exo-Comp behind the pilot...

It's a bit too fragile looking for a fighter, IMHO.

It could also be a tug or service vehicle of some sort. The widely spaced nacelles/impulse engines are perfectly placed for towing stuff around.

But obviously, a tug is lot less interesting than a fighter..

(Oh, and talking of imaginary fighters, you should take a look at this!)

Both bueatiful and impossibly nose-heavy.

Never heard of it, so no.

Hey, most of what I design are boring tugs, transports and shuttles, infact if I give them torpedos it's something of a novelty!
So I'm by no means afraid of making it a tug, however I doubt a tug of this size would be warp capable.

As for CGtalk, I try to avoid that site, it's too depressing.

Good idea to use the Mirror Universe for this.

BTW, I feel really really stupid. I just noticed the very handy "Convert Outline to Object" function in CorelDRAW. It's been sitting there for ages, and I've always been using clumsy workarounds! AARGH!

ok, thats just cool [Smile]

While you're at it - remember Tom Paris mentioning "fighter shuttles" in the Evil Voyager story VOY "Living Witness". [Smile]

Ya, It does. I found a website a while back that had diagrams of experimental Nazi aircraft. This design was one of them. There were also others that were used in the game Crimson Skies (great game btw) Too bad Microsoft couldn't be original.

Then I shall say what everyone is afraid to say... It looks like a Naboo Fighter from Star Wars.

There I said it, its out of my system now.

The similarity to tha Naboo fighter is not lost on me, however it's more down to both this and that design being influenced by aircraft of a similar era than any direct influence.

P.S. If you'd like to se this in 3D then scoot on over to TrekBBS and see what Vektor is cooking up.

I really must say, that's got to be one of the prettiest things I've seen from you, Rev, along with the Antares, Atlas & Brunel, and another ship which I have been forbidden to mention...

Dude, Vektor is doing a 3d! Coolness! Will the model by any chance be public?

How about a personal warp ship? Like a hotrod owned by a guy like someone who buys/makes a streetrod. Our gent is someone who has made a killing in the trilithium-resin waste-disposal trade, and had indulged himself in our friend above.

While I love your design, Rev, since it's completely original for Trek, there's one detail making my memories run back to my childhood. The "01" on there with that font instantly makes me think of the General Lee on "The Dukes of Hazzard". Not that it's a bad thing, though....

Okay, my mind's wandering off without me again. I now have an image of this careening through space with someone in the cockpit yelling "YEEEEE-HAAAAA!"

Any particular reason why you chose to have the ribbing along the hull sections go OVER the decals rather than have the signage painted over the ribbing? Looks just a tad weird.

So how do the PTCs get past the missile launchers to the nacelles?

What are those orange pods doing hanging off the tail? Are they life rafts? Or fuel tanks?
They remind me of apparel on a Coast Guard vessel.

It's a TOS ship - the M/AM reactions are in the nacelles, of course. [Wink]

Well, with the M/AM in the nacelles, it'll make for an excellent kamakazie, if all else fails. [Wink]

Or they are simply integrated fusion-powered low-warp nacelles.
