Guys,

I'm trying to decide on what ship I want to start working on next. There are many I could jump to (I'm really into the SF Chronology now), so i've decided to get some input from you guys to see what you'd most like to see.

Here are the choices:

The Whorfin
The Cerberus
Harry Mudd's Cargo Ship
The Lunar Orbiter
Orbital ShuttleCraft
NX-01 Shuttlepod
USS Patton - Marshall Class
Normandy Class Advanced Starfighter
Powers Class Scout
Bradley Class Space Tank
22nd Century Prototype BattleCruiser
Castor Class Cruiser
Pointer Class Corvette
Byrne Class Adv. Hospital Ship
University Class - USS Dewey
McCormick Class Factory Ship
Stellerford Class Space Liner

Powers Class Scout or Castor Class Cruiser, yo.

Stellerford Class Space Liner (we see so few civillian ships or transports)

Pointer Class Corvette (because smaller support ships make the fleet more plausable)

Powers Class Scout (scouts rae good and rarely seen).

Patton, Marshall class plz. I'd recommend NCC-015 as a registry for a "Starfleetized" version.

McCormick Class Factory Ship

We don't see this end of it much....

I wouldn't mind seeing Mudd's cargo ship. For some reason, the freighters of TAS are among my favorite design.

Since I have already done the Marshall class myself, I'd like to see:

- Pointer class corvette. The design is not too outlandish, and small ships are good.
- Byrne class hospital ship. I still don't know why the Chronology's hospital ships seem to be orientated vertically, so I'd like to see that cleared up.
- Factory ship. Never done before.

And I'd like to see what a Space Tank is supposed to do and look like, but the idea sounds too silly, so I won't vote for that.

I've decided to begin work on interpreting the Pointer-Class Corvette. It's a small ship from the Space Flight Chronology that measures 79 meters in length.

So, taking that into consideration, what are the primary functions of a corvette?

1. Escorting colony ships, freighters, etc through areas where criminals, pirates et al operate;
2. It must be highly maneuverable;
3. It must have a very high combat velocity
4. It is as well-armed as a frigate, but fewer turrets than larger fixed weapons.

79 meters doesn't leave a lot of room for either a shuttle or lifeboats. I don't know if it'll be capable of making landfall.

The SF Chronology includes this data about the vessel:

In service from 2130 to 2156
Weight: 3000 tons
Complement: 25

Does anyone have anymore references of this ship other than the drawing in the SpaceFlight Chronology?

79 meters is comparable to the sizes of the Raven and Ju'day classes, which both have small crews and no shuttles. In fact, I think a corvette this size would be similar in (relative) capabilities to a Maquis raider.

You might place a small number of lifeboats under removable hull plates, unless you don't like (pre-)TOS era lifeboats.

I wouldn't go the the 2130-2156 dates of the Chronology though. The Chronology timeline is not particularly compatible with anything anymore. If we're going by the construction date of the Constitution class (which SC says is 2188), the Pointer class was in service from 2130+(2245-2188)=2187 to 2213. If we're going by the founding of the Federation, we'll end up with 2130+(2161-2087)=2204 to 2230.

can you show me some pre-TOS lifeboats?

I want to make this ship timed to coordinate with the creation of Earth Star Fleet. It seems to fit better their with its style. There's a lot connecting it to the Flying Wing, now that I've started playing with it.

I don't think lifeboat/escape pod shape would need to change much in 100 years or so. The refit Connies have cubical-shaped pods which the Galaxys also employ similar pods. It's not hard to imagine that pre-TOS pods could also be cubical-shaped.
