The big day is rapidly approaching and I am, naturally, doing the invitations myself. Some women dream of the perfect ceremony... I dream of a super-cool invitation.

Anyway, here 'tis.

 -

It prints in two colors and is 17" wide x 26.5" tall, approximately 2/3 the size of a movie poster. I saw the plotter proof today and it's sweet seeing it full size.

The bottom information is set up just like the credits at the bottom of a movie poster. You'll have to forgive me, but I've blurred the info at the bottom. Some of the people in the wedding are minors, and I don't want their names visible. Basically, there's one larger line line that says when and where the ceremony is. I created a fake logo for the fake production company "Tree of Life Productions" (in association with Eros/Philia pictures) and put that at the very bottom. Her parents and my parents are listed as the Executive Producers, the man conducting the ceremony is listed as the director, and the people who made her ring are given a "Special Prop Design" credit.

There will also be an RSVP card and envelope that get rolled up with the poster and mailed in a mailing tube. I'm currently working on those.

Amazingly enough, she's actually letting me do this. What do you think?

Great design. I'm still lukewarm about the whole "movie poster" thing, though. I just don't think that most people will want to keep something that size around.

Here's an alternative idea: Judging from what you've shown, you could easily reduce this down to letter size or less and it would still be readable. You could give everyone in the wedding party the poster size and the small size, and send everyone else just the smaller size (maybe having some posters available on hand at the wedding if anyone wants one). This way, people could easily add the smaller size to a scrapbook or other memory collection without ruining the overall effect of the design.

So, where are the obligatory "dude, your wife's hawt" comments?

Huh.

The photo is great, as is the duotone wash (you are the master). How married (heh) are you to that title? It's just that it doesn't exactly imply long-term.

Far be it from me to be saying this, but it might even be too sci-fi dorky. I'm with BJ on the whole smaller invite thing. Or maybe even I'm not sold on teh whole movie poster idea.

Go for the A4 sized promo sheet that they have at the movies. I have like 100 of them I grabbed when Generations came out - they are basically the movie poster on the front i.e. Two Captains, One Destiny version. On the back are promo photos and information about the movie.

I LOVE the idea though.

The title might need changing maybe - it's like a sci-fi title with a chick-flick feel to the image.

Yes your fiance does indeed look lovely, but - this isn't gay nor nothin' - but you don't look too "sci-fi/internet weird" yourself! [Smile]

Oh and your fiance's name is Autumn - I *LOVE* that. Very cool.

I hear what you're saying baout the size, but I specifically wanted something big and awesome. Besides, it's too late... it's on the press.

The title... Autumn had the same thought about it being sci-fi-ish. Here's the thing though... it has nothign to do with sci-fi. It has to do with A) it'll be almost exactly a year to the day since we started dating when wee get married and B) we've come a long way and dealt with alot. And a light year is a loooong way. So it's basically a title that says we've done alot and come a long way in the last year and now we're getting married.

And it's totally supposed to have that chick-flick/art house look to it. It had to be 2-color because 4-color would run me $800. Too much.

I'm getting about 60 extra printed for handouts and keepsies if anyone wants one. [Smile]

Do you have any more photos of your wife, eh? He asks him knowingly.

Candid photography, wink, wink, know what I mean?

OMG - thanks a lot - you've put the Enterprise theme in my head after your last post though [Wink]

I always thought the double use of "time" in that sentence was a bit clumsy.

Do you have music composer listed as well? [Big Grin]

I almost did that [Smile] But no.

You need to list ILM as the effects house.
...and a Christopher Walken as special guest star. (the guy's in everything so why not your wedding?)

I think (as a gag) you should make a cheesy porn DVD cover as well- you could use the same photo with garish colors and text blurbs.

Or we could use the pic as a Capcom! [Big Grin]
Aban's wife was raised by birds and this is how he feeds her.
