Just a few burning questions brought on by this, my latest adventure on Arrakis.

Just how long ago was Arrakis, and the spice, discovered? Dune hints that it was well after the Butlerian Jihad, or at least that's how I understood it. But now we get reference to expeditions dating back to before that time.

Are the Bene Tleilaxu supposed to be from Ix?

If we accept "The Dune Encyclopedia" as canon, the first melange-assisted journey through hyperspace was 84 BG, about 24 years after the end of the Jihad.

How long before the discovery and refinement of Melange was Arrakis discovered, I don't know.

The same source says that the Bene Tleilaxu hail from Tleilax.
