I was just watching Mercy Point this evening, when I noticed something. Mercy Point (for those of you who don't know) is a hospital in space orbiting a planet in what we know of as the Gamma Quadrant. Now, a shuttle can get from Mercy Point to Earth in about 33 days. How fast would they have to be traveling to make that trip?

Somewhere in the range of 600,000-800,000c, although we'd have to know exactly where the planet is.

Also, this doesn't account for any of the relativistic effects on time, too. Did 33 days pass in the shuttle, or in the universe, or both?

Well, the planet is near the Gamma/Beta Quadrant border, and the person at Mercy Point said the shuttle would arrive at Earth about 33 days after leaving the hospital

Ah...maybe 400,000c-500,000c, then. Roughly. How much time passes in the shuttle, though?

Gamma/Beta border? Umm... wouldn't that have to be the center of the galaxy?

I don't know! I get confused by this. Whichever quadrant is diagonal from Earth is where Mercy Point is. And Frank, I don't know how much time passes in the shuttle. Probably the same amount of time

Yes, Krenim is right.

"Next on Voyage to the Centre of the Galaxy... It's the long-awaited 'We're here! Shove the Black Hole Aside!' episode. 8 Eastern/9 Pacific."

Time is relative at near-FTL speeds, and at FTL speeds... depending...

I think that was the subject of my signature quotation last week.

RW is really Shatner! I new it all along.

Fab: There is a map at Krenims site. It's a good perspective on which quadrent is where.

I thought the Delta quadrant was diagonal from earth?

Nurse: Reason?
Kyle: I'm a clinically depressed fecalpheliac on Prozac.
Nurse: JACKET!!
