HAIL TO THE KING, BABY!

That's right!

The single most anticipated DVD release of the year is this Tuesday!

Anyone else going to be shopping smart?

Shopping S-Mart, that is...

Fuck it, I'll wait for the Special Edition in November - or, rather, Christmas Day when my wife gives me it as a present like she did with the first two. . .

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Um, this is the special edition, Lee. Hail to the king, baby.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Snay, it's not. And yes, i too will be doing what Lee is doing. Getting the SE-box for Christmas.

I wonder what will be included this year? Minas Tirith? Cirith Ungol? Nazgl? Mmakil?

tFotR: The Argonath
tTT: Gollum

Andrew, WTF are you talking about? This IS the special edition release. Yes, it really is. OMG. WTF.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

No, it's the theatrical version release.

The RotK extended special edition comes out in November.

Dude, seriously, I think the Pacific ocean air is getting to your brain (and Lee's!). There's no "extended special editon", it's just the plain "special edition" that comes out on Tuesday. Anyway, here's hoping MGM doesn't decide to release it again in November, that would suck ...

... then again, the movie'd still be worth it.

Posted by Malnurtured Snay (Member # 411) on :

Oooooh, I wonder if there'd be cut scenes with the Egyptian blood sucker ... maybe yes, maybe no?

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

LOL - Maybe I should have clicked the link first. I thought you were talking about the Lord of the Rings. [Smile]

Well he did label the thread with another product, so...

Is this "Bubba Ho-Tep" cockamamie in any way connected to the "Evil Dead" universe?

Posted by deadcujo (Member # 13) on :

Not related to Evil Dead at all, but it's still a great movie featuring Bruce.

I dunno about 'great'. But it is a lot of fun. Ossie Davis as JFK is worth the price of admission.

Special edition box is the theatrical release and also has the extra disc with the bonus documentaries and crap. that came out today.

the Extended box set comes out this fall and has the extended version of the movie (thus longer version of the movie...think the ~$30 box sets of the last two) plus the bonus documentaries and crap...

OK!

I just bought the extended versions of the first two. After watching them, I gave my 'special editions' to my stepson - and decided as well not to but the 3rd movie until the November release.

The extended versions are truly awesome.

Something about Return of the King?
Man, I love that movie! [Big Grin]

I'd rename the thread in Snay's aid, but my mod powers don't stretch into this place. Something about kryptonite.

The ROTK EE is to be the EE to end all EEs.
I hope future franchises will adopt the EE Modus Operandi, it was very successful, predictable and bountiful, IMO.
I definitely hope The Hobbit will come with an EE as well. Though it feels like bad luck to talk about it at this point, kind of like "Macbe".

You people do this on purpose, don't you?

Yeah...thus the emoticons.

Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Well, maybe not Treknophyle.

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

hmmm....no, prahaps not.

How the hell can you misspell a seven-letter word in a four-word sentence in a one-sentence post?

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Because I'm tired and doing ten other things at once while at work?

That's the official press release anyway.

(BTW, I've mis-typed "and", "doing" and "anyway" during this post-and corrected them: it's bedtime).

I thought Jason's mangling of English was a foregone conclusion around here. [Big Grin]

Any hints as to what will be on the extended edition of ROTK?

Some of the things I'm hoping for:

" thought Jason's mangling of English was a foregone conclusion around here."

I'm still not fully desensitized to it.

Isn't it "forgone"?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

No.

Now I would never have thought anyone would ever phonetically spell that eerie lingual tradition the british have, adding "er" after a word ending in "a", like Bananer or Kataner.
If I could find out who started that and go back in time and stough his mouth full with sausages the moment before he was supposed to have invented it, the whole world would thank me.

Furthermorr(dorr), Grma will have many additional scenes except that, Marian.

"...adding 'er' after a word ending in 'a'..."

Actually, I think that only happens if the next word starts with a vowel sound. I could be wrong, though.

Posted by Nim the Fanciful (Member # 205) on :

Vowel, bowel, whatever.
Could you give an example? I've heard the "er" thingie ending sentences, too.

-"You! Wha' ded you 'ave for loonch? Quickly, or I'll kill ye."
-"Oi 'ad a benaner!"
-*frobodorph*
-"Aaaargh!!"

Two examples from "Highlander the Series":

"I was in Chiner at the time."

"Yeah, but after Amander I'm next."

And from the Beatles: "I sawr a film today".

D'oh...

It's been so long since I read it, I forgot how it was spelled. I'm a bad bad bad bad person.

OTOH, no one has yet called me on misspelling "preemptively" in the "Fourth Season Rumor" thread...so I guess it's a wash.
