"The Darkness is coming" has been a throwaway line since at least Season 2's "Fear Her", and has also cropped up several times in Torchwood. I'm quite excited to see this thing get explained.

Scene-by-scene:

- Fear of the Dark. Who- or whatever the Darkness is, it's probably going to be epic.

- Rose. The way the Doctor reacts to Donna's "isn't that good?" is just.. chilling. It's not good at all, I reckon.

- Something nasty is going to happen to Donna. At least, it's usually not a good sign when such bright lights hit you in the face. It does look like there might be a chance of Donna not surviving the series.

- The Doctor flying through the Vortex! The Doctor looking terrified! The Tardis console room on fire!?

- DAVROS! Half a Dalek with blue light on top? It must be him. No clue about his story of course.

The Daleks are back, what a surprise.

Yeah, that's Davros alright. A quick wiki search shows he was last seen scarpering away in an escape pod after the Seventh Doctor made Skaro's sun go nova.
As I recall the time war was started by one of the Dalek "Puppet Emperors", presumably that big freak from the episode where Rose goes all godlike. So one assumes he was sitting out the war to see who came out on top. One wonders what's taken him so long...but then with everyone timer travelling all over the place it all becomes a bit...well, relative.

A guy who posts elsewhere gets pre-release copies for reviewing purposes. He mentions that in the next ep the Doctor meets someone from his future who knows him quite well (although from the Doc's perspective it's their first meeting). His reaction on meeting Donna is apparently quite telling. Something bad is going to happen to her all right.

We've also had the Pompeyan soothsayer proclaiming Donna had "something on her back". Some take that very literally and link it to the Metabalis spiders of the classic series, and the possibility of her carrying a Racnoss egg/hatchling. But regardless, an unhappy ending seems quite possible for Donna. If they're going that route, I hope they don't chicken out by having her magically resurrect in the final 10 seconds.

It could be telling that she went from being quite certain she didn't want to become a Companion, to then obsessively seeking out the Doctor again to become one. Unless it was something else making her do it, even subconsciously.
