I've been vocal here about the desire NOT to have Doctor Who be a rest stop for old series characters. This however makes logical sense as Sarah Jane IS an old series companion and has been shown to have a lasting relationship with Brigadier Sir Allistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (ret.).

And as we can see, the dude's OLD now. It'll be fun to see him bumbling around Bannerman Road, and apparently facing off against the Sontarans. He's well past his rifleman days, but he's just so darn loveable that the Sontarans don't have a chance!
