Or HDTV for short.
My fiance were looking for a new television and I went and did it. We purchased a rather large high definition set.
There we were, looking at the HDTV side by side with a regular set and we were just knocked off our feet by the clarity of the picture. Oh, this thing is cool.
And they deliver my new baby tomorrow!

Cool. What brand? I think it was Sony who came up with this new feature, called "natural motion", I think, that made the frames flow much smoother, it felt much more than 24/sec.
Um, have you decided on a name? ;-) [ January 31, 2002, 01:13: Message edited by: G.K Nimrod ]

Plasma or Projection (or some huge honking conventional tube)? If you just ran out and bought the former, I imagine the honeymoon might well have to be cut back to a night at the Motel 6 down the street...

I believe Tom that it is some sort of huge honking conventional tube. We looked at ones that were projection and they were much more expensive and we felt that unless you were several feet away from them, and directly in front of them the picture seemed rather distorted.
I'll have to read the book tomorrow and find out more about child care. [ January 31, 2002, 22:34: Message edited by: Jay the Obscure ]

Of course, if you didn't have that worst TV system in the world anyway, then all this HDTV nonsense wouldn't be necessary. NTSC my arse.

What is it you PALites call it? Never Twice the Same Color?
Seriously, though HDTV is pretty schweeet. My folks recently got a 65" Mitsubishi (projection) HDTV ready bigscreen. We still haven't quite figured out how we want to get some HDTV signals to display (We live in a valley and our RF reception = crizappy). In the mean time, it's all about the progressive scan anamorphic DVD transfers with the 5.1 surround. STII really is so very beautiful.

I call it wank. Seriously, I never thought there would be much of a difference, but when I went to the US, the lower quality was quite noticable (although to be fair, I was comparing it to Digital satellite hooked up to a 32inch widescreen Toshiba, so it wasn't the most balanced comparison).

NTSC sucks. PAL rules. So there.
Just wish the price of those behemothicly sized & generally very juicy Plasma Screens(tm) would come down to a level I could afford.
